“And you little boy… what do you want to be when you grow up?” asks the teacher to young Tommy in class one day.
“A bassist!” the little boy replies.
The teacher frowns, ” Well you can’t do both!”

Only jokin’, i love bassists really! :D

Did you not use that one somewhere else?
But for drummers?
Widen your repertoire (sp?)
Haha.

The Sansamp Bass Driver is supposed to be pretty good (Still haven’t got one, though :(), and I know Michael uses them, if that’s the sort of thing to sway you. The Hartke Bass Attack is very similar and tends to be only about half the price of the sansamp. I’ve read plenty of reviews that say it’s easily as good as the Sansamp, though also several that wholeheartedly disagree. I’m not sure of the actual prices for eitehr of them at the moment, though both should be cheaper than a Bass Pod.

As for the stealing of the joke… well, i know plenty more drummer ones!

How do you know when the drum riser is level?

The dribble hangs out both sides of the drummers mouth!

Apply THAT one to me!

If you need a cheap (€ 45)and good one, I can recommend the BEHRINGER ULTRA-DI DI100. I know a keyboard player who uses it and it’s a stable device that takes away the ‘hum’. I however prefer amps with an integrated DI.

Bump.

I think it’s slightly different to the one 3ddo mentioned, but the Behringer BDI is supposed to be reallygood for the money.

I’ve got a Sansamp Bass Driver DI, and they invariably sound awesome. I’ve also got the behringer Ultra-DI. Works OK-ish for microphones, it’s absolute balls for bass. Do not buy it!

For the record, Michael used the rackmount Sansamp RBI preamp, not the Bass Driver (but it does the same thing, really).

Apparently the new Sansamp paradriver is much more versatile.

I think the Ultradriver is the older one that’s supposed to imitate an SVT, isn’t it? The BDI21 is quite new. I hear it doesn’t compare to a sansamp, but at a tiny fraction of the cost is still probably worth it.

Forget that: I was wrong about the SVT modelling, that was just one of their many other products called ‘ultra’.
But this is the one I’m talking about:

That’s just an INCREDIBLY cheap Sansamp rip-off. They take the circitry, assemble in Korea (or wherever) and push out knockoffs at a fraction of the price. It’ll sound almost as good as a Sansamp, sure. It’ll also be totalled in 2 month’s time.

I’m also annoyed that that price check doesn’t have where I live in it… Northern Ireland isn’t in Great Briton, you cretins!!!

Terribly sorry - I forgot about this thread months ago!
Re the DI box, still haven’t got one. The band i was in was not really getting anywhere and although we had great tunes and knew what we were about i was forced to quit. Just got in a new band tho playing pretty lite pop music this time (http://www.myspace.com/thedeadlinesband) so i’ll start looking again!

Well, if/when you do pick something up, let us know if it’s worth checking out. (I’m talking DI boxes, not medical conditions…)
