Whats the point of a rock album with no vocals???
Explosions In The Sky are instrumental and I think they are fucking awesome and they dont sing at all, just amazing music. There are bands that do DO this still.
See I think Therapy? take all these judgements to heart if they read just one post saying ‘bollocks’ or ‘the idea is shit’ etc etc. Well thats my guess anyway cuz judging from this upcoming live recording that I’m pretty sure peoples comments here about Shameless have killed any chances of being able to choose a song that isn’t ‘gimme back my brain’… for example.

I LOVE instrumental tunes but a whole album wouldn’t be T?.
Maybe a few songs… but otherwise I doubt it’ll happen?

I think the instrumental on SP-YF is one of the best tracks on the album - it was awesome live too. I think instrumentals work best as rarities though rather than full albums

YOu can see what he means in that interview though when andy says he’s bored of words. Look at the lyrics on One Cure, compared to the other albums. Not that they’re bad, just very sparse. The rate T? are releasing albums now, an Instrumental would give Andy time to get some thoughts and some really good lyrics together for next time. I liked the early stuff like on Nurse where alot of the lyrics are there for the way they SOUND (as weel as their meaning), like the chorus on GONE or even Teethgrinder. Basically I just want T? to challenge me again like some of their other songs/albums have, I always love the experimental stuff like Meat Abstract, Tramline, lots of Nurse, lots of Infernal Love, even stuff like the piano at the start of Safe, the beats at the start of Born Too Soon, lots of Suicide Pact, Unrequited, even Outro sounds great and totally different, real atmosphere.
I can see why some folks don’t like the Instrumental idea, I just want them to do a really fucked up experimental album that might well divide the fanbase for a while but will be a real curio in the back catalogue. Or are we too old to want them to mess with our heads, maybe some fans just want them to stick to a straight ‘therapy?-style ROCK’ formula now, just with different producers. Whatever they do I’m sure I’ll love it. I just want them to mess with my head again like they did with Nurse, with Infernal Love, with Suicide Pact, with Shameless (which I now love but didn’t think much of at the time… but the fact I didnt like it that much still messed with my head!).

The danger is that since Neil Cooper came on board, the band have been working their way back to getting some high ratings and (reasonably) decent coverage: half page album review in Kerrang!, free track on Rocksound CD, etc and a general feeling (I think) that the rock press and punters are starting to realise that T? are a truly great and unique band who are going to keep going plowing their own furrow on their terms whatever reception it might get, putting on great shows and building a reputation as an honest, hardworking, PROPER ROCK INSTITUTION!!! (like they deserve to be and for all of us already are).
Releasing a weird fucked up album now might be dangerous for them in trying to build that following. So should they keep trying to build their popularity, or just do whatever the fuck they want? Sorry for the long posts, but I want OPINIONS, WOMbles!

hmmmm good points.
I think you’re right about them becoming a rock institution. To throw it off path now would be dangerous - they did it with Infernal Love… and blew their mainstream appeal and again during the Ark 21 years and blew the rest of the casual fans, alienating us guys won’t help now! (not that any of us loyal fans would ever do that!)

I think as well as an instrumental album would kill the momentum they’ve built up with HA,NANE and OCFA.
They could release a double album first CD with the more traditional T? sound and the second with an experimental instrumental sound.
