People here have a problem with me liking oasis ?
And they tell me about it every chance they get ?
And i’m not allowed to make my opinions heard ?
Hypocrites. :)
Oasis: I like it too, the first two albums are excellent, then something happened to those Gallagher bros:(
Unconsoled: what an excellent song! Great lyrics with sad melodies! Play it loud every morning when you go to work or school:) maby it “opens” then to you..

I thought we were having a discussion about music, not the mindless warblings of Oasis. When they were successful it was due to at least 75% image and what is the point in that? Oasis stand for pretty much everything that is wrong with the music industry (well maybe not as bad as Coldplay but pretty bad).
By bringing up Oasis you’ve made me look like the small minded wanker, but I don’t care really. Oasis aren’t even worth talking about. Why don’t you go and talk with some Indie tossers somewhere else about which band member has punched which photographer and slept with what celebrity somewhere else if that’s what floats your boat.
Therapy? & Oasis = Binary opposites.

I think Oasis are nothing special and never have been in my opinion, and should this kind of topic be mentioned in a different thread…?

:) And you thought *I* insulted people about their tastes in music ?
Oasis are everything thats wrong with the music industry ?
What about Pete Doherty ?
What about signing every band that comes along that looks and sounds the same to make money…
” The ” bands…
In My opinion, Oasis have 3 great albums.
Ask most people, they will say ” oh I suppose they have some good tunes but Liam is a wanker, Noel’s alright tho ”
And I agree. :)
OCFA : Still growing n me it has to be said - altho I do enjoy a spin every now and then. Still Can’t listen to Deluded Son.

Good point. However, you have made the mistake of suggesting Doherty has nothing but a negative impact on music, and then compared him with Oasis. Case closed.

So you’re saying by comparing him to oasis, and saying that he only has a negative impact…

It’s a good album but it’s not a brilliant album. The mix is well fucked but I still listen to it a couple of times a week. I mean fucking hell, i listen to some of the worst recorded punk you’ve ever heard and OCFA is not that bad compared to that stuff. I suppose people just expected more from them.
Some of the songs were awesome live though and i’d like Walk Through Darkness and DSA to stay in the set for years to come.

I couldn’t agree more; Chris Sheldon definitely made the Therapy sound that I hear in my head whenever I think of the band. But I don’t think the production is at all bad on OFCA, it’s just a bit of a change in direction in song wirting.

Always thought Shamless was about the weakest of all T? releases, but then all their albums have good things going for them, to a greater or lesser extent, so that’s not being too harsh… Personally I love OCFA … because it’s an album full of good songs - there’s only a couple that head towards “filler” territory - and it’s an album that benefits from listening to as a whole; from “Sprung” which gives you everything you want in an opening - full - track (fills you with adrelalin, sends fingers up yer spine, puts a big melon-slice grin on yer gob … starts proceedings with a BANG) through to Walk Through Darkness with it’s unexpected ending (Jake Burns would surely have KILLED to write a track like this … sounds more like SLF than they do themselves).
But above all I like it ‘cos it’s resonant throughout of all T? eras - there’s the BIG sound of more recent releases (and “Troublegum”), AND touches of the sparseness of earlier releases (I love the middle parts of Lose It All) and the more brutal stuff on Suicide Pact (I love that album). The influences are clear too, too many to mention but Killing Joke and Joy Division come to mind … but above all T? manage to incorporate so many sounds and yet still sound utterly distinctive, which is what I love about this band the best!!!

Indeed, my point entirely. “Walk through Darkness” sounds like vintage SLF, the like of which we haven’t heard in a while. Thought “Flags and Emblems” (and “Get a Life”) were so-so, but admittedly the most recent lot of SLF albums have been seriously lacking…
