Alan Partridge

I dont know if you guys have seen this show but it is absolutely hilarious. The character of Alan Partridge is just genius so uch smarter than Ace Ventura. He is this arrogant dude who is damn narcissistic who lives in a hotel and does a radio show for radio Norwich. Did you guys see the episode where he stands on a fence and stabs his foot right through a spike and minutes later has to do a speech. My God I was in tears! Can any of you tell me when this show was made because I really cant understand why it wasnt talked about. I just love it although the Knowing me, knowing you with Alan Partridge had a few dull moments.

I’m Alan Partridge was about 2001/2, I think?

I’m sure I’ve read somewhere that Steve Coogan is doing an Alan Partridge film… not sure how that’s going to work :s

Any fans of Saxondale on here…?

Again Coogan presents a very, very well-observed character…but maybe it is a little TOO subtle, this one…?

Aww bless you, you little whippersnappers, you! :D

Knowing Me Knowing You actually started back in the early nineties on Radio 4, and it was unbelievably brilliant - way, way better than the TV series, because it was just a spoof radio show with this crazy, awful interviewer who nobody had heard of. The first time I heard it it took me a while to realise that it was a spoof because I just stumbled across it. I nearly phoned up and complained about him! :D Luckily I cottoned on after a few minutes :)

Anyway, don’t waste your money on DVDs - the BBC released the radio series so you should buy that instead. F**king superb :)

I had the Alan partridge radio series on CD - quality.

I never heard On The Hour but used to really like The Day Today.

Knowing Me, Knowing You is great, but I much prefer the first series of I’m Alan Partridge (in the Travel Tavern). One of my favourite comedy series ever.

The second series strangely I wasn’t fussed about…I can’t put my finger on exactly why but it was something to with the fact that the humour is much less subtle/cruder.

He tells him he has ideas for new shows called ‘cooking in prison’ and ‘youth hostelling with chris eubank’

I like the bit in that one episode where he sees someone he knows in a car park. Can’t remember who, I think it was just ‘Dave’. And he spends ages bellowing his name across the carpark before deciding ‘He didn’t see me.’ And then bellowing it again just for good measure. :D

‘DAVE!’

:( Yeah, it usually IS a Dave, isn’t it? :(

Actually, being called Dave can be a pain in the arse, cos in the average week, there are several times where you’ll be in a pub/ car park/ adult bookshop etc etc and someone will shout “DAVE!” to his mate, only for you to turn around all excited and stuff and realise it is indeed a different Dave they mean..a Dave with friends, a Dave who people shout across crowded rooms to…a different kind of Dave…a…

If this Motley Crue thing gets off the ground, and you find that you can’t go through with it, then you’ve got the name of your next band right there. :D
