Gav - what was Malta like?

Bit of a shit-hole mainly but I do like the place - it has a certain charm… but St Julians was nice, worked hard and had some rather nice meals paid for on expenses so on the whole, it was quite good.

Got delayed by 10 hours on the outward flight which was shit-house :(

hello all, been busy this morning. digging through the mess our sales assistant left. I was a bit down when he told me he was leaving the company, but now I’m glad he’s gone. Why is it so hard to find good help?

What is the meeting? Don’t be all over the place, take deep breaths in through your mouth and then breathe really slowly out through your nose. It should calm you down, but if it doesn’t at least you won’t suffocate! :)

Tinne - you are so fickle! :p

It’s with that old radio 1 DJ Mark Goodier, he called me and wanted me to pop up for a chat about possible work. The main problem was i got a mail from Oz and it’s just thrown me a bit so i just have too much going on in my mind. I have to try and not think about it till after the meeting but it isn’t easy.

Anyway I best get ready to catch my train.

Fair enough :) Did he get a good reference?

@ Divers - well I hope you get some local work doing sound stuff, and it doesn’t have anything to do with your reputation as a gay butler :) *crosses fingers*

@ Sam - is that Mark Goodier? I don’t know the first thing about anything to do with radio 1 …

Yup! I only know him because he’s in a Day Today clip:

TEUPORT: When he goes to England later this month, one of the people Fur Q will be doing the killing to is Radio 1 disc jockey Mark Goodier.

[Shot of Goodier in his studio, giving us a thumbs-up.]

why should we do that? He lied to us, and caused serious problems that will cost us lots of money. I don’t see any reason to cut him some slack. He didn’t ask for more explenation either.

It could come to a few thousand euros, even a few tens of thousand euros if we can’t solve the major problems

Maybe his training was poor? Having done loads of temp jobs I can vouch for the fact that you’re often just chucked into roles without really knowing what you’re doing…

Though if that’s not the case then I guess you have good reason to complain.

He got one week of training and he could always ask the lady the gave him the training, which he did very often, but that was just not enough for him, I guess. He said when he was leaving that numbers are not really his thing. Well, I’ve noticed that :)

So you don’t know whether he said he could do the job and your company didn’t give him very much training…but you’re going to complain anyway :D

I’m only playing devil’s advocate ;) I empathise with temps because I’ve been one several times…it’s a shit situation to be in, and agencies and companies generally treat you really badly.

I’ve been there too. I started in this company as a temp. I got 2!!! days of training. And even in this job I do now there was no job description. I got my description from job ads on the internet . Sad isn’t it.

Once a temp agency got me an interview to be the intermediate between a belgian and a german company branch.I did rather well on their german language computer test, because I just thicked the boxes of the answers I thought sounded OK. I had no idea what it all meant. I also told her several times that I dodn’t speak german, but she decides to send me anyway. i got there, the lady of the company starts talking to me in german. I replied in my best Jean-marie Pfaff-german that I can’t speak the language, and the interview was over.
