What do you drink?

#

Started by Zorn (Tim)

I’ve tried thinking of something really interesting to post a poll about, and failed.

This is the best I can come up with.

(Before changing the message boards’ software in August 2007 this discussion contained a poll, which may return in the future)

It’s a stout so I’d class it as a real ale, kinda. It’s also my fallback beer.

I am delighted to see that real ale is storming ahead! There’s nothing better than a pint or 3 of top quality bitter :)

I ticked anythging as it depends what I’m doing - in the pub it tends to be real ale of some sort or Guinness, withh meals it tends to be wine (not breakfast, no wine on my cornflakes!), other times lager & just a drink at home on my own, swearing at the TV it tends to be gin & tonic or whisky. Many a smoothie has been spruced up with Barcardi. Pimms-in-a-can is probably the closest I’ve got to an alcopop this year & that was on a day out to Hampton Court. :)

You should never ever put wine on your cornflakes, but if you’re really desperate it’s ok in a boiled egg :)

I think I am being exposed to maligne forces in London, the girls at work keep saying I should get a man-bag.

Apparently they bulge too much when its too hot for a jacket & I end up putting phone, ipod, wallet, keys, tissues, coins, gym card, work door fob & oyster card in them.

I think I cope fine… but apparently not the done thing in London.

Bah! Should never have comprimised myself with the Pimms…

I’m hoping that ale is steaming ahead, following closely by lager.

Oh and if you think cider sucks or alternatively think strongbow is the best you can get, you should check out some proper organic cider like.. Westons, and stuff.

When I was young if you couldn’t get in the pub you sat in the graveyard and drank cider. Week in week out. I made myself so ill on cider in my teenage years that even now the smell of apple juice makes me sick!

Damn! Forgot to include it, and I love Guinness!

…which is why I too, hate cider; although substitute “graveyard” for “woods” - hey, we had class.

Clearly a mis-spent youth…

That sounds remarkably Welsh. But then I only had a few Welsh language lessons. When I was six. Thirty years ago. And I HAVE drunk far too much etihw gninthgil during the intervening period. Mostly in a graveyard. Cider doesn’t have give me severe nausea now, but ohhhh GOD does the smell of red martini do that …

Hmmmm … maybe I shouldn’t post this message, it’s rubbish … ooops, DAMN!

Back in the 80’s the official definition of lager was “a drink for puffs”. Not very PC, I know - but it show’s how times have changed! Unless you have something to tell us Gav?

The smell of pernod :S I once drank a litre of pernod in a weekend. I was not at all well, as far as I can remember.

Nowadays, whilst cider (Magner’s etc) seems to be a la mode right now, lager is much more accepted within the male community. HOWEVER a lager dash (or a lager TOP as it is known by people who are served by fuckwits who don’t realise you should put the lemonade in FIRST not on top of the lager) really IS a gay drink. Shandy is for drivers, which I accept as OK, but a lager dash?! Second only in gayness to a lager and lime *shudders*.

(NB lager and black isn’t considered as gay as lager and lime, but it IS equally socially unacceptable, being as it is the drink of fecking STUDENTS  )

:D
