Would you watch Steve Irwin’s death?

#

I have been inspired by the BBC website to devise this poll. Here’s the article in question: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/5326802.stm

So, would you watch the video if it was released?

I personally would. Not for some voyeuristic buzz, but purely to see how it happened. Steve Irwin lived to show the general public how wild animals reacted towards humans, and he’d even said himself that he would like his death to be filmed and shown.

However, it’s up to the family and even if it is not released, I would understand why.

I remember a few years back seeing the Nick Berg beheading by Muslim extremists on the internet. I’m glad I had dial-up back then as the images weren’t good quality, however the sounds were horrible. I think Steve Irwin’s tape is a completely different situation in that people can learn from it.

(Before changing the message boards’ software in August 2007 this discussion contained a poll, which may return in the future)

Same here. Does that make us sick? :(

I’ve seen a few things on Ogrish too - does that make us sicker? :(:(

Learn what???!!!! The guy was stung in the heart. He was a crazy bloke who was obviously going to get killed by some freakish critter - but all you would see is what a guy in agony looks like 10 seconds before he dies. You could watch that by taking mr self destruct to see Robbie Williams.

No, I wouldn’t watch it and yes, you are sick…

I like the question that Ogrish ask on their website: “Can you handle reality?” :)

I’m not worried by gore, but I’m not even remotely curious. If I want to watch people dying I’ll switch on the news :(

To be honest I don’t know, if I would until I get offered the chance - as that moment I have the blood lust of mr self destruct or the saintly (!?) stance of mrs h - but at this minute, I’d actually watch it to see exactly what happened, rather than just listen everyone’s version of Troy Tempest & Marina gags!!

The news is self-censored though, it’s a less shocking version of reality.

I’ve got a mate who’s always looking on there - somewhat ghoulish I think.

Happy to watch any amount of fake gore in say, Dawn of the Dead or The Hills Have Eyes. No interest on seeing the real thing, didn’t watch that guy being decapitated in Iraq, won’t watch this either. About as appealing as watching someone take a dump.

Now I really wanna see it! ;)

Apparently he pulls the barb out of his chest with his bare hands though - wouldn’t anyone want to see his final act of heroism?

That’s an interesting definition of heroism!! I think he was probably just frantically thinking of ways not to die … :p

Yeah real deaths give me the creeps, i remember years ago my brother had a video called ‘Executions’ and i couldnt watch it, it had guillotine, shootings, hangings etc.
A guy out of work sent me a vid clip of some senator guy shooting himself at a press conference in the 1980’s, he hands out big envelopes to people then pulls a magnum out of the last one. Nasty

Wasn’t that Bud Dwyer? (Filter - “Hey Man, Nice Shot!”)

I have seen that clip, and if I am being brutally honest I would probably watch the Irwin one. I don’t know why, I’m not particularly proud of it but I guess I am just curious.

Saying that I had the link to the Nick Berg beheading but didn’t watch it…
