*embarrassed* I have no idea what Mastodon or Tool’s drummer is like.

Joey Slipknot is great at what he does, nothing especially groundbreaking but good.

Mastodon I have heard a couple of tracks from and I cannot quite see what all the fuss is about, maybe I need to go a little deeper into it…? It all sounded a bit clinical and emotionless to me, but like I say, ain’t heard enough.

Tool I do not think I have heard a single note by…

How would you describe the drumming styles of these two bands..?

I’ve never heard any Tool, and could not choose between the other 2… maybe joey cos his playing has more character. :)

Joey shows off way too much and his solos are HORRIBLE.

Danny is the best of the three by a good country mile.

They might be the biggest bag of over-hyped wank since Hear’Say but you can’t knock the skills of Joey Jordison really can you?

Danny Carey absolutely pisses all over the other 2.

What impresses me about the guy from Mastodon is that he really integrates himself into the sound of the band. Much like Fyfe did with Therapy? He also shows some impressive jazz techniques. The other two may be able to play a lot of tricky stuff, but isn’t their style rather, hm, conventional? (I’m really just asking a question, not pretending to know what I’m talking about).

By the way, would you say that Dave Lombardo can compete with any of those 3 guys?

The Mastadon drummer is good - there is a dvd with the new album of him warming up…

Joey is a good drumemr but remember - slipknot have 2 other precussionists.

Ever heard of guy named Mike Mangini? This guy is more human than human when he hits the drums.

Just look at this one! At the end of the vid he looks like a fucking machine!

But the three of these I’ll prefer to big D ‘cos his drumming is the heart of Tool’s sound.

Exactly!

Fuck the drummers off, get a drum machine cheap off eBay and Bob’s yer uncle -

No more non-musicians taking up valuable stage room with their ridiculously large set ups (do you ever see a singer with all that shit to carry? No! So FUCK OFF THEN FATSO!) and one less person to split the money with.

Yay!
