The demo songs are probably on a par with Darkthrone in terms of most evil (or shittest, depending on your viewpoint) production…yeah, good stuff :)

I have their three apparently best albums, A Blaze In The Northern Sky, Under A Funeral Moon, and Transilvanian Hunger.
Blaze I am still trying to get into as the production is really horrible. Transilvanian Hunger I quite like - good songs but really thin production. Under A Funeral Moon I think is really good. The production isn’t so lousy and there are some fucking madly intense tunes on there.
I definitely prefer the rougher sounding black metal stuff (i.e earlier Satyricon, Emperor’s Nightside Eclipse), but Darkthrone do maybe take things a bit far! :)

It’s sort of a mash of his last few albums into one. It’s not too bad some really good songs on it. I do think it’s a bit over long..and there are some tracks that could easily be trimmed off. BUt i’m enjoying it…just wish he would distill his live act into a studio album that would be cool.

He just does so many interesting things in his live show from his beat boxing and odd folk instrument playing to interpritations of his songs. Then he sort of dulls it down and doesn’t be as creative as he could on record. Odelay showed what he can do if he focus’s and the live stuff on that tour was amazing.
Thats my feelings anyway.
Today i was playing.
Beck- Odelay & One foot in the grave
