Did anyone like it? I’ll be in honest in saying no, I didn’t, not at all!

I’m sure hooch will change it!

But no, i don’t like this crap at all!

3 Cheers was a great album…what the hell is this rubbish?! Boring punk/pop by numbers on the theme of death. One of the worst concepts EVER! Even American Idiot by Green Day had more worth than this idea!

Why o why are people still buying punk/pop for children?

Does anybody else think that the singer was trying to do a Freddie Mercury impression for the first part of the video to this song…??? The built up before the usual pop/punk shite they always play!

It made me want to puke the first time I saw it.

I have to change the channel every time it comes on now.

I really like the first two albums, i got them both when they were first released. Three cheers i thought was great..quite frantic playing and the songs were poppy but also hard..so i don’t class them in the same way as fall out boy or any shit like that. I have had the new album for a few weeks now (an official version!) and it just hasn’t hit me like the others. All the things i like about them they have sort of got rid of and now just sound like the rest of the pack, but just have better songs. It’s slowly grown on me and there are some nice ideas but i doubt i will as hooked as i was with three cheers.

I think they had the unique position of choosing art or commerce, like Mastodon. Mastodon did the right thing and continued what they were doing with integrity…MCR blew it by creating lowest common denominator toss but ensuring they get to the top quicker through teenagers pocket money…

sad, but there you go.

I really resent the bit in the single about becoming the “saviour of the broken, the damned” or whatever he says..

If he really believes that, then he is a delusional, arrogant, typical Rock Star kind of frontman, as well as a right knob to boot.

Emo kids are not “the broken”, they are the “feeling sorry for yourself teenagers” that most of us were at some time or another. At least we had the Smiths for moodiness and Adam and the Ants for escapism. All the kids get these days is MCR and their ilk.

No wonder self-harm is on the rise…

I didn’t know the angst angle was one they were aiming at but it does make sense and if they are…then they are really poor at it.
Every interview is them going on about how hard it was to record the album and how it NEARLY made them depressed!

Richey and Morrissey must despairing!

@Dennis: Morrissey and Adam and the Ants?! How old are you?!

the nu song sounds like a christmas song, lol.

theyre not that bad tho, i think the linkage between emo and self-harm is a misconception, there is no proof that emo promotes self-harm, dont get me wrong i hate emo, some of its ok, but i wudnt necesserily rush out and buy of the cds.

if emo is supposed to be miserable, it doesnt have to mean that 14 yr olds have to harm themselves, in my own view, until it is proven, it a load of bullshit.

i personally dont think that MCR are emo, theyre metallic (even tho theyre not metal) pop-punk, they may LOOK emo but they dont sound it,

*waiting for my barrage of critizism as usual*

Glad to see I’m not the only one seeing the Queen comparisons…!!!!!

MCR get a definite thumbs-down from me anyway.
Especially for the dodgy Freddie Mercury impression…

I do like the first two albums though, so I’m interested in finding out, sometime.

I don’t mind it, it’s just a bit over produced for my tastes..and the songs on the album just don’t have the same excitment as the last album. I still enjoy playing the album though, I’m not going to start hating them because they made a really commercial album i just wont listen to it so much…but it’s still early days it could click and i will play it constantly.

well the only thing i’ve heard of them before is that “i’m not okay” song which i thought was pretty good, but i was totally seduced by the new single. Sometimes you need something totally overblown and pompous. :D

I loved their previous album, it’s my scream-along-cd when I’m alone in my car. The new one is like divers said, to clean, but I think it will grow on me, just not in the way the three cheers one is.

Marja I think we are on the same page on this one. I have been playing it loads and really enjoy it, I don’t think there is a bad song on the album and the ideas are a big step forward from three cheers ,it’s just not as addictive as the last one. Currently my fav song is “the Sharpest Lives”
