3 Cheers was a great album…what the hell is this rubbish?! Boring punk/pop by numbers on the theme of death. One of the worst concepts EVER! Even American Idiot by Green Day had more worth than this idea!

Why o why are people still buying punk/pop for children?

I really like the first two albums, i got them both when they were first released. Three cheers i thought was great..quite frantic playing and the songs were poppy but also hard..so i don’t class them in the same way as fall out boy or any shit like that. I have had the new album for a few weeks now (an official version!) and it just hasn’t hit me like the others. All the things i like about them they have sort of got rid of and now just sound like the rest of the pack, but just have better songs. It’s slowly grown on me and there are some nice ideas but i doubt i will as hooked as i was with three cheers.

Suddenly they are everywhere…This year’s Keane, anyone?

I think they had the unique position of choosing art or commerce, like Mastodon. Mastodon did the right thing and continued what they were doing with integrity…MCR blew it by creating lowest common denominator toss but ensuring they get to the top quicker through teenagers pocket money…

I didn’t know the angst angle was one they were aiming at but it does make sense and if they are…then they are really poor at it.
Every interview is them going on about how hard it was to record the album and how it NEARLY made them depressed!

theyre not that bad tho, i think the linkage between emo and self-harm is a misconception, there is no proof that emo promotes self-harm, dont get me wrong i hate emo, some of its ok, but i wudnt necesserily rush out and buy of the cds.

if emo is supposed to be miserable, it doesnt have to mean that 14 yr olds have to harm themselves, in my own view, until it is proven, it a load of bullshit.

i personally dont think that MCR are emo, theyre metallic (even tho theyre not metal) pop-punk, they may LOOK emo but they dont sound it,

I don’t know. I’ve not heard anything from the new album yet, but judging by the comments here*, I may not like it.

I do like the first two albums though, so I’m interested in finding out, sometime.

well the only thing i’ve heard of them before is that “i’m not okay” song which i thought was pretty good, but i was totally seduced by the new single. Sometimes you need something totally overblown and pompous. :D

I loved their previous album, it’s my scream-along-cd when I’m alone in my car. The new one is like divers said, to clean, but I think it will grow on me, just not in the way the three cheers one is.

My gf loves the new one, thinks its as good as 3 Cheers (apart from the single) so i might have to give it a closer listen.

I’ve been playing it all day yesterday, and I must sayn there are a few tunes that really stick, and are just funny. Still a bit to clean, but I’m liking it
