As soon as I saw the title of this thread The Holy Bible re-release sprang to mind. Amazing package. I even prefer the US mixes to the originals. Didn’t know about the Everything Must Go re-release, will have to check that out too.
Also, how amazing would a remastered “Nurse” be? Think that was discussed elsewhere on these boards…

It maybe isn’t so much the case now, since the digital age has meant that even with a relatively low budget you can get a half-way decent recording, but in the past bands early recordings suffered from lack of cash and, escpecially since some of the reissues are of albums that were recorded decades ago on primitive equipment, it is nice to finally hear these songs as they should always have been.
Of course, there is the risk of polishing out the original charm of the songs, but if the remasters are done with TLC (not the girl band, no) then the results can be like being able to go back to a black and white photo and suddenly have all the colour there.

you can’t beat old skool recording techniques! Lou Barlow used to do everything on cassette and knock out crappy sounding 7”s all the time!
And as for “Nurse”, whats wrong with it?? its my fave T? album!!

If you like terible sound quality and guitars you can barely hear - but for a scraping sensation right at the back of your mind - then why oh why have you never been to see Bandykoot live?!

Well, ok fair cop we make sure you are OUT at the time, but still..
Talking of which, our rider clearly states that we should have “Sour Cream and Chives” flavour Pringles, not cheese and onion, so sort it out for next time, lad, and we need a wind machine, so we can look like Bon Jovi.

I don’t mind it when a band puts a lot of effort into a re-release like the Manics have but it pisses me off when an album is re-released with one bonus track like Roadrunner used to do with their bands.

Yeah they have re-released the Sepultura back catalogue three times with minimal differences… it’s totally pointless.
Some Older albums really do need remastering and I welcome that.. but does an album like Roots really need it, it’s not exactly quite and sounding dated??
I thought Jeff Buckleys Live at Sin-e was a quality re-release as the orginal only had four tracks on it and now you have two cd’s worth and a dvd.
