What CD’s (or Music DVD’s) Are On Your Xmas List?

#

Started by Dennis

As mentioned in a previous thread, my wife and family tear their hair out each year cos all I ever ask for is CD’s and Music DVD’s*

So, what’s on YOUR wishlist..? (And no, I am NOT offering to buy you them, you cheeky git. Do I look like Santa Claus to you?! Actually, don’t answer that…)

Think mine will have

Anthrax - all the John Bush-era albums, but especially “We Have Come For You All”
Anthrax - Alive 2 DVD
Motorhead - “RocknRoll” Expanded version
Manic Street Preachers - “Everything Must Go 10th Anniversary Edition” (I know my bro has bought me this already, it is just a case of whether I can actually wrestle it out of his hands, cos now he’s got it he wants to keep it :D)

..man, my mind has gone blank but there must be more than this…

Anyway, what CD’s and DVD’s are the little elves knocking up for you right now with their little hammers and workbenches..? (How DO they do that..?!)

(*and a meercat, this year, just to be different. Long story.)

maybe:
queen - live at wembley ‘86
queen - freddie mercury tribute dvd

but i might buy them together with a friend…

if you already know what you will get, because you told your parents so.. then it isnt a present anymore! i want to be surprised when i get a gift, but the older you get the harder it is for parents/friends to buy you sth cause they dont know what to buy and if they know it, they want to leave the decision to you, because you know exactly what you want… means the parents dont want to buy some cheap crap, so they want you to buy it yourself with the x-mas money they gave you…

People don’t really buy me CD’s for christmas, it’s pretty pointless as i’m not an easy person to buy them for. I have very varied tastes and also never know if i have it already or not. I have however said about music DVD’s

Opeth: Laminations
Spiritual Beggars: Live Fire
The Cure: Festival 2005 or trilogy
Zyklon: Storm Detonation Live
Coldcut: Sound Mirrors - Videos And Remixes
Strapping Young Lad: For Those About To Rock - Live
Pixies: Sell Out 2004 Reunion Tour
Nirvana: Live! Tonight! Sold Out!

that’s all i can remember

I know what you mean about surprises, but I am really hard to get surprises for cos music is my only hobby, and I have so many CD’s it’s not like my family can surprise me with one, cos all the bands I like I have most of their stuff and the ones I haven’t got are usually for a reason (“Oh god, don’t buy me that album, it is supposed to be shit, and it’s the one where all the original members left and were replaced by female impersonators who had a budget of ten pence to record the whole album…!” Or some such thing!)
But yeah, does kinda spoil the fun of it all a bit …but , hey, FREE CD’S !!!!!!

Erm…

Facedowninshit - Nothing Positive, Only Negative
Mastodon - Blood Mountain (with the DVD!)
Melvins - A senile Animal
Primus - They can’t all be Zingers
Primus - Blame it on the fish

and possibly that new Meat Loaf. Heard part on the radio, and to be honest: it rocks.

But knowing me and my insatiable thirst for CDs, I will probably have bought them all myself before X-mas…

It’s released in Belgium I guess, but we’ve never found it in a store. They always promise that it will be in stock very soon, they say that since the day of the release already :(

glad you like queen too, i am really looking forward to it…

paul rodgers? havent heard that much stuff with him and queen, but what i head was ok. it’s not too bad i’d say, think its nice for the fans that they can see queen (or lets say half of them) on stage. many people didnt have the chance seeing them because they were too young! anyway…

Well, I think it is fair enough that they are still gigging - When you pay to see Paul Rogers + Queen, you know exactly what you are getting, you know there’s no Freddie, so you have the choice to take it or leave it. Some Queen fans can’t face the band without Mercury, so they stay away, others, as you rightly say, never saw Queen at all and are happy to settle for the new-look band - I can’t say I blame either side of the argument, to be honest!

Queen are one of those bands that I normally never give a second’s thought to, but as soon as a DVD is on or a song comes on, it all comes back to me what a great band they really were.

Anyhow on my Xmas list I have asked for a voucher which will cover both Virgin Megastores and HMV. Then I can get various DVDs ie Bruce Dickinsons Anthology,Star Wars all of the films 1-6 and CDs ie The Haunted, Killswitch Engage the list is endless.

As a whole I truly loathe and detest and shun the idea of presents for whatever silly occasion. It always feels a bit like they’re trying to make up with me for never being there when I get a present from someone. The biggest present anyone could give me is just picking up his/her cellphone and answer Yes if I call in for a beer or so. I don’t need any christmas hype to dictate me to feel good around my family and friends, I always feel good around them.

Anyway if you own an original copy of Electric Ladyland I can mary your sister allright?

Oh in for a penny…

The Live DVD is out soon too -

“Soul Man - Live In Dudley at The Saracen’s Head”

If you listen really hard you can hear the old dear in the other room politely clapping, cos the room I was in was, well, I think “empty” would be a good word for it…

So…

New Zealand really sucks then, huh?! :D

Rowley, eh..I used to live up the top of Portway Hill (on Oakham Road, not far from the Hangman’s Tree, if you know it. If you don’t, It is a pub, not just some ritual execution post we still used in the 70’s and 80’s. Honest)…

I used to journey down to Rowley to go to Rowley Tandoori..

God, now you have got ME nostalgic for Rowley Regis! :D
