Your first Therapy? Gig

#

Started by mikelen?

The other day - 2nd December was exactly 12 years since I first saw the boys live. It was at the Liverpool Royal Court, when I was then a naive 15 year old. How time flies.

I had bought the tickets about 3 months before the gig and everyday was like a big countdown to the show. I bunked off school for the day and everything in anticipation.

The gig was amazing - opened with Isolation, even though I wasn’t really prepared for it! Andy said something before they played Potato Junkie about them not being able to play the song then he said “Fuck it, we’ll play it anyway”. Anyone remember why they had problems playing it?

Was anyone at this gig?

The question is, where were you when you first saw the lads live??

I didn’t actually see them live properly until the High Anxiety tour in Winter 2003 unless you count an acoustic set earlier that year. I was totally blown away, esp, when they played Sister. ;)

December 1999 - Leeds Cockpit. Rico Supporting. I’d asked this girl I fancied from Uni to come with me, and she said yes, then dropped out at the last minute so I took my little brother too.

I remember it being a bouncing set and I thought it was the bees knees, I’ve seen them better since then though.

The reason it took me so long to see them live (this was only about a year before the 10 year plan best of album) was because I lived in a farming village in Lincolnshire and the closest we’d had to a gig was something like Dave Hill’s Slade II at the Sleaford Arts Centre about 2 years earlier, and that was 20 miles away - a long bike ride indeed!

My fave one was Bulldog Bash 2000, great set, Bad Karma Follows You Around was included, which is one of my all-time favourite Therapy? songs.

Therapy? really kicked ass that night. I have pretty much gone and seen them live on every tour since - living in Dublin now however.

One of the nicest people you could ever meet, playing bass in the best band you’ll ever see. ;)

it was amazing, it think it was the 3rd or 4th concert in my life and it was a blast.
best moments for me were michaels famous ass-kicking and myself beeing on stage for some seconds during “teethgrinder” to dive into the crowd then … beeing 25 now, i don’t stage dive any more … hahaha.

seen them one every tour since then with the exception of the “shameless”-tour.

1994 ProvinssiRock festival Seinäjoki Finland. I was a bit too drunk:) Since then I´ve tried to be as sober I can be at a T? gig:). The gig was a BLAST: the fence between the stage and audience fell down of pressure. I remember a guy with a gasmask crowdsurfing on me and the others.
Saw the gig on VHS a couple of years later and my memories of that gig got refreshed:)
First one is the best!

It was December the 12th (I think), 1998, in the Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh.

I also had my ticket for months before hand and was counting down the days to see them.

Unfortunately I had been seriously ill in the weeks leading up to the gig, actually in hospital the week before the gig and there had been much argument over whether or not I should go. Obviously, I was absolutely desperate to go to the gig and not until the day of the gig was the decision was made that it would actually be more detrimental for me *not* to see Therapy?!

I like to think of them as responsible for helping me get through that particular illness :) Fucking amazing gig too.

Promoting the Retrospective album. And I got to meet Andy as well. I dont remember the setlist much as I too busy jumping up and down, singing alone and hangbanging so bad I was almost sick! But I do recall alot of Infernal Love being aired - awesome!

One of the most 3 very powerful gigs I’ve been. I mean : ” Oulala ” as we say here.
One memory of this gig, when THERAPY? was playing ‘Trigger inside’, at a while there’s a kind of break, and just the guitar bass plays before 2 harmonics ; during this moment Andy was singing the first lyrics of ‘All apologise’ of Nirvana.

Very good memories…

My first one was when I was 13 at Leeds T&C in February 1994. I’d never heard of them but the gig was amazing… I’ve been a wee bit obsessed ever since.

I was at a Pearl Jam gig in Glasgow (the day before “Ten” was released) and an upcoming Therapy gig was advertised on the flyer. On the strength of that, i bought a ticket, went to see them and loved it!!

Check out the original flyer, and spot the mistake!!!!
