Let me introduce myself… I was their ultra-big fan during my teenage period in the mid ’90s.
It all started with Opal Mantra that I saw on 120 minutes on MTV… ah, good old days. Then I’ve heard Screamager, Teethgrinder, etc, etc… I fell in love.
Therapy? continued to evolve… I was very pleased with Troublegum, but when Infernal love came out, I was thrilled. Yes, thrilled! I loved that album very much and I still do.
Then Semi-detached came out… I was very pleased as well… still I think that Safe and Straight life are one of their best ever songs. The album has plenty of great songs.
BUT, then came Suicide pact… I was so happy… but when I actually heard it I hated that album so much that I literally threw it in a garbage.
Andy had some annoying mumbling vocals, everything seemed pointless.
I lost interest in them and haven’t listened to any new T? album since then. No, not a single one.
However, today I downloaded three songs:
Rain hits concrete, fear of god and one oldersong - Long distance.
I can’t say that I missed something for all these years… Long distance sounds… bllaah… boring, but rain hits concrete has a potential… though I cannot say that for fear of god.
How exactly is 1 cure fits all compared to albums from nurse to semi-detached?
Can it be compared at all?
So far, it seems to me that therapy lost themselves after semi-detached or just before that. What I always liked in their music was how they connected metal/rock with the pop element - killer chorus & vocals and melodic riffs. I never liked their early and raw period when they sounded like a demo group.
But maybe I’m wrong?
Thanks.
