For the next album…

Presumably, most ppl on these boards would agree that T? don’t get the recognition they deserve. I also reckon most wombles have been sending e-mails to various radiostations, hanging posters at random places etc, but the question is: what else could be done? So feel free to brainstorm, basically. I’ll start off with two suggestions:

1. T? could involve the fans in the album making process a bit more. A sleeve design competition would be cool, or why not a riff-competition, where the winning riff would end up on the album? This would hopefully create even more loyal fans and give T? some cool press coverage.

2. Another suggestion could be for us wombles to partially finance, for example, a tv advertisement with the hope of spitfire joining in.

Maybe a bit over the top, but what the hell :)

Or we could make donations towards a real cd single actually beinng released, maybe we could do what some other band did once and pay for the album before its been recorded, the band will then use our money to record it and we get sent a special edition of it as a thank you.

Well, the internet is a really powerfull tool, and many people have Myspaces, maybe we could dig up a few good quality, enterataining Therapy? music videos and post them in Myspace bulletins.

(For those that dont know, Myspace is a network of friends, like MSN but in a web browser and it isnt IM. Anyway a Mysapce Bulletin is essentially sending an email or news report, sticking it on a virtual wall and anyone on your friends list can see it.

By doing this not only are many people going to (hopefully) see it, but they could then check out the Therapy? website, have a listen on the Myspace. Also, it’s free, so I cant see why we wouldnt give it a go?

Especially since even if only about 50 of us did it, assuming were all connected to about 30 friends at least, thats potential for 1500 people to click on and hear Therapy?.

What do you think?

I also think the ideas of an advert would be good, or maybe we could all run around posting flyers :P

I must be honest, I’m not sure about all this. Us chipping in for recording costs and shoving advertising space on tv is more than a little costly to most of our pockets, no matter how much of a good idea it might be.

But isn’t what record companies exist for?

If you listen to the radio nowadays, Therapy? just doesn’t belong there anymore!
At least not on the Belgian radiostations that used to play a lot of their tunes in the past. Everything’s got it’s time and place in radioland, same counts for television. Most popular stuff wins airplay, and that seems to be emo-stuff, poppunk, r&b and dance music lately …

A coverdesigncompetition would be nice, but it won’t make them more popularÂ… The Beastie Boys have done the same, their music is still more popular, but did they have a comeback, or anything close to that because of that competition? Why would it work for T?, because their recordcompany is behind them??? I don’t think so!

A riff competition, would be really sad, I love Therapy?-riffs, and I would like to get another Therapy?-record, not a Therapy?-fan-record, Can you hear the comments yet? “They ran out of inspiration, now they need their fans to make their music for them!”

It’s up to the recordcompany to come up with a decent promotion campaign, and I think letting them play in recordstores is a good start, but some more efforts from Spitfire would be welcome indeed.

And there is something you can do yourself! Let anyone you think that can like them, hear their tunes! That really works :)

Soul doubt is right! I’ve got a few people into T? by constantly singing their songs drunkenly at the top of my lungs, to the point where a load of mates checked them out and even came to see them with me @ Download the other year!

Its true T? don’t belong on the radio at the mo but this type of music will come round again when whatever is the current fashion slows down . I predict Britrock will return in a few years and T? will be considered the fathers cos they’ve kept going and will make a triumphant return to the stadiums! :)

Yeh, soul doubt might indeed be right. The idea was just to throw out a few random suggestions, hoping a few ppl would do the same and maybe smth would catch on (hence the brainstorming). I agree fully that spitfire should do more, and that was sorta the notion about partially financing an advertisement, something along the lines of “we’ve done our part, now you do your”.

But hey, I will keep on introducing T? to new ppl whenever given the opportunity.

One thing you must remember is that Spitfire is an indie label.
They don’t have bags of money at their disposal like Universal records, for example.
I think a bit more promotion would be cool from Spitfire but their resources are limited.

Guess it’ll be word of mouth for the next album.

Um the point being is now days you dont need alot of money, they diddnt even set up the band a myspace (something which most record companies do for the band) meaning that the staff of this website had to set one up (which i prefer as its closer to the band than a label page).

Huh?? Absolutely not! I don’t want someone else to write the riffs for Therapy? the creative part is their job. We, the fans, are only here to adore them! ;)
