I have not really heard much Anthrax - in fact I couldn’t hum a single one of their songs except for the PE collaboration (genius) and Got The Time (wasn’t that a cover too..?)
I saw them on Download on TV a year or so back and thought they were very “cartoony” if you get my meaning. After getting into Slayer in recent years I have found even Metallica seem a little cartoon-like in comparison (not that Slayer aren’t cheesy and cliche themselves, of course, but I enjoy it so who cares?!) but Anthrax just seemed very lightweight and a little too flimsy for me, but hey, whaddo I know?

i think thats pretty accurate mate. Well, the belladonna model at least. I kinda used them as a springboard to get into heavier bands like slayer and metallica and sepultura, but i’ll always be a fan of the ’80s anthrax. And yes, got the time was a joe jackson cover.

Mind you, it’s nice to see a metal band that doesn’t just wheel out the same old oh-so-satanic antichristian lyrics…although I notice the ‘thrax HAVE jumped on the pentagram bandwagon recently.

See, this is what happens, the Dennis Curse - I get into a band then they split or someone major leaves..
Richie would still be in the Manics if it wasn’t for me, and The Jam wouldn’t have split up in 82 or 83 whenever it was if i hadn’t got into them on their very last album and now Anthrax have gone all cack and it is all MY fault.
:(
I am so, so sorry. I think I will go and buy the Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand and Lily Allen albums, so that maybe they get affected by my inverse midas touch too..

I join two and a half years ago and now half the band has left in an acrimonious split, so “go” “figure” as that american man on the telly said.

That’s the one.
I barely recognized him. It may be worth going to see them to see if he ‘roid rages out on stage. Joey looked really old but sounded as good as when I saw them back in 91. (now I feel old :( )
Here’s a question for the Anthrax geeks.
Anyone have a clue what
A.I.R and A.D.I. stand for?

I watched the interview bits on Alive 2 the other day, and man those f*ckers don’t give anything away at all about Bush and Rob Caggagaggaiannainio (sp?). All Benante says is that they had an idea to go out on tour with both singers and do a “new” set and “old” set but that Bush turned declined to be involved. Whether that means Bush is out of Anthrax for good or just for now or what, who knows?
Scott Ian said in an interview at the time the reunion was announced that John Bush was “still a part of Anthrax” but how much of a part of a band you can be without being on stage with them or being involved in a new album is debatable!
At least Charlie had the decency to mention John and Rob in his a “special thanks” on the DVD credits. Wonder how much of this is to do with the band at all and how much is to do with money/ contracts/ pushy record companies/ managers etc..
And for my two cents, Joey is crap.

i will not buy any release by the “new old” line-up …
i hope bush brings back amored saint, or maybe he should start a band with caggiano, joey vera and some good drummer.

Hope that dont happen as the sound of white noise and we’ve come for you all were superb albums and bush is a great singer.
Personally i think ian and benate are knobs but anthrax are great with bush.

I am SO glad that Joey has ditched Anthrax!
If they had continued as they were after WCFYA, they’d have probably had a new album out now and be touring this year, but instead they have got to go cap in hand and with their tails between their legs back to Bush.
From comments Rob Cagianno (sp?!) has posted on the net, I would say there’s little chance of him coming back, I just hope Bush says “yes” and we get this cracking band back!

Not ahuge fan but I have a good few of their recoeds. Joey for me is a joke along with that whole Anthrax era, as somebody said it was all a bit cartoony. Bush grounded them and knocked the high pitched bollox on the head and with him they did their best work. Its crazy how he has been treated.

Think Anthrax need to call it a day or else beg John Bush to come back. I don’t think i would bother with them again to be honest as Ian and Co. sound like a bunch of twats. As for Taylor I don’t like any of his bands so… plus how could he keep 3 bands on the go???

3 bands on the go would take some doing, yes!
In terms of singing style (leaving aside the screaming and shouting of Slipknot and thinking of his actual singing voice), I think Corey is actually fairly close to John Bush’s style. I don’t think it would be a massive leap for them, and it would be nice to have someone who is genuinely enthusiastic for the music and not just coming in for a quick reunion pay cheque. Besides, in my opinion Taylor is a damn fine singer and frontman. They could do a lot worse.
Still, with Slipknot and Stone Sour still very much going concerns, I can’t see it being a long-term solution at all.
I think Ian and Benante need to recruit a new singer and get a new band name and start again from scratch, if they are ever gonna claw back an element of dignity from recent years.

I’m not too sure and as you said he already has two major bands so how much time he can put aside for them would be limited. I did hear at one point Whitfield Crane was in the running and even though Ugly Kid joe weren’t the greatest band in the world he did have a great voice and with his stuff in life of agony has a good middle ground of both Joey and John so i was not against that. Corey.. would only be a tempt solution.. and i would prefer them to get a full time bloke and stop pissing about or just stop.

Agreed.
I think it is a massive shame that they had such a strong album with We’ve Come For You All, and were clearly on a roll, but that roll was stopped dead in its tracks by the reunion.
Still, I am curious to hear what this Slipthrax is going to sound like, if it ever sees the light of day.
