Oh and yes,

even if you pay for it all in one go - you have to download track by track.

Ok, I really appreciate your reply Michael. I think the track listing should have been the same as the original download because I have already made the DVD in the order I downloaded it, therefore the inlay is now incorrect (over the top fan obsession becomes clear!). Also, even if it is a CD sized inlay, I think it should also incorporate the two spines that you would normally get with a CD back inlay.

The only reason I say this is that the digital download is a medium that I applaud Therapy? for tackling, but if an inlay is offered then it should be a inlay that makes the physical music consumer happy. ie, when put in a jewel case it looks offical.

This is, however, a minor compaint. I am totally behind this venture into the digital music business and once again, I think the T? lads should be congratulated.

No need to panic, stuntbelly. The sleeves are sent out in batches, and you weren’t in the first batch, the one which has now been delivered to several people. If you had only ordered it 14 minutes earlier, you would have been in the first batch. (Just thought I’d throw in that little nugget of info :p).

The second batch, the one you’re in, will go out this week (or may already have, I should get confirmation of this soon).

As mentioned on the webgig page, please allow 6 weeks for delivery of your cover. If you haven’t received it 6 weeks after your order, send me an e-mail at the address listed on the webgig page, and I’ll check if and when it has been sent out.

After finally having received my creditcard( I still play cassettes too, so a modern thing like a credit card was a big step for me) I immediately downloaded the whole lot and have been enjoying every second of it. While watching I sometimes wanted to jump into my screen to be there!

Until my sleeve is there I will just stick to my Therapy? Shortsleeves…

I think a download release is just as good a reason to go on tour ;)

Downloaded it yesterday (Happy Valentine’s to me?), hurrah!

I really like it. It fills the gap between studio album and live gig very nicely, and in a way that I have thought needed doing for quite some time but did not - until now - choose to voice out loud… :)

Those pauses at the end of each audio track are a bit of a bastard, though.

I’ve not watched the video yet, so I can’t comment on it (or whether it actually works).

More of the same, please, T?

Thanks, Simon. :) But I had a rough go with Audacity before I put them on cd, and I think it’ll do for me (though I did manage to miss one, somehow :o Will probably go back and sort that later). I expect you’d do a better job than me, but I don’t think there’s anything you could do that I couldn’t in Audacity?

Cheers anyway, mate. :)

I’ve burnt the videos to dvd now, and finally watched them, huzzah! :D Very cool, and a bit odd at the same time. Sort of feel like politely clapping after each song, because of the silences…

I would have liked it to be lit a little less brightly. Just a thought.

Heheh, and I knew I’d been playing Knives’ bassline wrong, and now I think I’ve finally figured out how to do it right. :D

Title: Web-gig Inspirational or flawed?? (merged)

Before certain elements take my views personal and decide to become abusive**Disclaimer: The following is a statement of personal opinion, not everyone will agree with me, but this is intended for light hearted debate!

I have been listening to a lot of old live Therapy? stuff
of recent, and to be honest the web-gig is a massive let down in my view.

Can anyone honestly listen to “Straight Life” and tell me it is sung in tune? Honestly, play the original and play the web-gig version, it’s butchered!
And go to You Tube or anywhere else and listen to live versions of “Knives”…again the Web-gig version is the worst I have ever heard it performed.

I understand anyone can have an off day vocally…but when the fans are paying big money surely they could have re-recorded it???

I’m sending a friend of mine in Canada Therapy? Cds as
he is intersted in hearing them, but I would not send the Web-gig to promote their stuff or give representation of the band.

Before anyone lays into me, I am a legitimate fan since 1994. But I won’t be bias just because I like the lads.

I think the Web-gig is ill conceived idea. I would prefer to see the next session infront of a live audience with some real energy and athmosphere too.
I wouldn’t waste my money on a second live studio event.

Love,

Mr. Knoxville

I’ll be the first to say that I prefer the webgig version of straight life, and I’ll be the only one.. I know it! :p

For once, Knoxville, I agree with you! Knives isn’t the best, but it doesn’t bother me! I think Evil Elvis is excellent, as is every other song.
It is worth the money I say, and, again Knoxville I am agreeing with you here, a webgig in front of a intimate audience would be nice!

However, having said that, I think that Teethgrinder is the best I’ve heard Neil play it.

INNOCENT X FOR THE NEXT SETLIST! :D

Maybe now that we’ve found something to agree on we can stop arguing! ;)

I don’t know if I’d say it was ill-conceived, but there definitely were a few cringe moments.

I agree Straigt Life was sub-par, but I felt it mainly suffered from the lack of a second guitar.

I thought Knives was flat without an audience (It’s one that really should only be played live, like Potato Junkie)

I thought the vocals for Lonely Crying Only could have used more life, and the melody vocal for Suing God was a bit off too.

But several songs came off well
Screamager, Nowhere and Die Laughing were strong
so was Evil Elvis…and Dancin with Manson was excellent.

I also thought the sound quality and the mix were excellent.

It was their first go at this, so I’m cutting them more slack.

Overall I think it came of well, with room for improvement. I’d grade it a B- for Suing God and my points below.

But here’s my two cents of constructive criticism.

1) Try using a mic on the guitar cabs instead of recording through the soundboard… this was a big contributor to some of the flat sounds. IMO micing the cabs gives you a more live sound. It lets the tone of the amp and guitar come through better, as well as you get better reverb that way.

2) Limit the potential setlists to songs which aren’t negatively impacted by having only one guitar. Straight Life suffered, but Suing God and Lonely Crying Only translated fine with one guitar

3) If playing something obscure, make sure it’s really tight before you record. I had the sense that Andy wasn’t completely comfortable with the vocals on Suing God, the words were there but it sounded more like a first run demo.

That being said, I’d look forward to another one of these. Especially with more Pre-Troublegum, and Post-HA songs.

Of course a concert recording would be nice too.

i would agree generally i dont think andy looked comfortable singing any of the songs with the exception of dancin with mancin there was no craic or smiles out of him which i found strange but i dont regret payin the money for it because its not often we get these treats.and anoter thing i dont think we as fans are in the position to tell the band where to stick mics and stuff thats up to them .the sound i thought was fuckin amazin but as so many people have said the choice of songs leaves a lot to be desired.i think the band would have been suprised at the choices too maybe a wider spectrum next time:)

I still havent bought the webgig, and dont say that im not a real fan becuase of that, I dont really have the money, and when i do get money i spend it on gigs and i’d be quite happy spending £13 for a ticket to a t? gig and supporting them in that way,

and at the end of the day i know the money goes to a good cause and the band needs my support but £13 for a few digital files and a bit of plastic or about £11 to be in front of the band sweating my ass off headbanging and singingalong for 1 and a half hours is a no brainer really.

Internet gigs are not the future,

Ill hapily purchase the radio sessions as its something i like the idea of.

but £13 for a live set that i could actually experience in person for a few quid less is a bit of a bad deal.

I know the band are trying new things and trying to earn some well deserved funding but the webgig is simply something that doesnt intrest me, I own the studio versions of all the featured songs which more than satisfys me.

I do wish the band luck and hope that they continue experimenting.

If i get some money soon i may order a new t-shirt to make up for not supporting the webgig.

dont bite my head off im only unloading my opinions which you may well disagree

Folks,
Looks like the web’gig’ has caused quite a large amount of feedback both on the WOM and to the Church Of Noise. All comments are mucho appreciated and whilst some are spot on and we agree(and will hopefully address on the next one), the rest are wildly off the mark. We always knew we’d be opening a can of worms with this kind of project but as they say “nothing ventured nothing gained”…

As much as we could, we left the decisions with track selection/ordering options with you guys and mostly that has been enjoyed. Anyway, without getting too ensconced in all the pros/cons of personal opinion…there are a few things we’d like to correct…and only ‘cos i hate people stating their opinion as ‘fact’…

1.”Delay in getting sleeves”…they are going out slow as the intial batch went missing, the post ain’t what it used to be and some people have filled the order forms wrong so we’ve had to chase up a few addresses/signing names. Apologies to those who did it all correct and are still waiting…all are on the way.

2.”No mics on the guitar amp”…look closely my friend, there is a SM57 on a small stand in front of the bottom left speaker of the Marshall cab. It’s dark granted…

3.”the sleeves aren’t personalised”…all sleeves have been signed indidually by each band member and the ‘dedications’ have also been handwritten as per what each person ordered(i should point out that a lot of people didnt fill this bit in right at all…sorry!)

Ok, hope that may clear up a few thangs…

Love ya…

Title: correction

…man, i would have loved that we signed all sleeves ‘indidually’ but that was not the case. We have used a new ‘individual’ coding format which i think ye will all love…
