So much for the 20 year plan (reprise)

#

Started by Citizen Erased (confused again)

So now we’ve got another post SMFTTYP album, time to look at the next retrospective again…

Rules of the game are the same as before - you have to choose 2 songs from Shameless, High Anxiety, Never Apologise Never Explain and One Cure Fits All.

@Sarah You are not allowed to swap the Shameless songs for two others.

You also have to suggest the titles of two new songs that will be recorded for the album & in 4 years time we find out if you were right…

So:

Shameless:

This One’s For You
Stalk & Slash

High Anxiety:

If It Kills Me
Rust

NANE (hmm, maybe3 from NANE would be better):

Rock You Monkeys
Long Distance

OCFA:

Sprung
Our White Noise

New Songs:

Passive-aggressive
WHy Did My Self Help Manual Let Me Down (or Fat People Cause Starvation)

rust
rise up
perish the thought
sprung
walk through darkness

surely theyll prolly release 2 albums at least before this happens so theyll have enough songs to fill up maybe a double album, or better yet a box-set with a dvd time will tell, if not a 20 yr plan, itll be a lot better if it were a 25 year plan, itll be more special

therapy? - So much for the 25 yr plan - a silver jubillee retrospective.

Must be a bitchy queen from the gay scene there.

Interesting thread and difficult choice (3 songs per album should be better); so

1) gimme back my brain
2) dance
3) if it kills me
4) not in any name
5) rise up
6) polar bare
7) sprung
8) rain hits concrete

As for a new song, I would go for a cover, something wacky like The Ramones Baby I Love You

10. Kerosene (Big Black)

Title: So much for the twenty year plan :) (merged)

Hi folks. Had a bit of a crazy thought the other day :)

When the compliation of “So much for the ten year plan” came out, it covered Therapy’s output from 1989 to 1999.

Since 2000, when the album was released, Therapy? have put out Shameless, High Anxiety, Never Apologise Never Explain, One Cure Fits all, The Webig, BBC sessions etc

As we’re already into 2007, it’s only two years until Therapy? hit the bit 20. Does anyone reckon they’ll put out another ten year compliation to celebrate the 1999 to 2009 period? I bloody hope so :D

Just for a laugh (and baring in mind, it’s two years until the big date, they may well release another album or two by then) I’ve put together a compliation of songs I really like from 99 to the present, as a sort of suggested compliation, so everyone can disagree with me and call me %*%$%&$%% insane for missing out their favourite tunes ^^

Here’s my working playlist for 10 year Plan - the revenge (crap working title!) Sticking to 16 tunes as that’s how many are on the first compilation, from 1999 to present.

1. I am the money (Shameless)
2. If it kills me (High Anxiety)
3. Play on (Rain Hits Concrete EP)
4. Rust (High Anxiety)
5. Rain Hits Concrete (One Cure fits all)
6. Sprung (One Cure fits all)
7. Wicked Man (Shameless)
8. Perish the Thought (Never Apologise, Never Explain)
9. This ship is sinking (Never Apologise, Never Explain)
10. Polar Bear (Never Apologise, Never Explain)
11. Deluded Son (One cure fits all)
12. Not in Any Name (High Anxiety)
13. Hey Satan, You Rock (High Anxiety)
14. Stand in Line (High Anxiety)
15. Dance (Shameless)
16. Long Distance (Never Apologise, Never Explain)

Agree? Disagree? Got a line up of your own? Post it! Or tell me why this one is ass ^^ It’s all in good fun.

Don’t cheat though. Only post 1999 albums allowed!

Still, definitely hope the guys do it. I’d buy a copy. Perhaps they could sweeten the deal with a couple of the rare tracks I’m having trouble getting hold of, like 60 watt bulb and all :D

Shameless would have worked better as a mini album like Babyteeth or Pleasure Death, as the first half of the album isn’t too bad at all.

That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it :D

Didn’t you know? The original demo for ‘He’s not that kind of girl’ was called ‘Baby pigeons’ ?

Here’s a copy of the unprinted lyrics!

Baby Pigeon
—————-

“Hey baby I dig your caw,
I like the way you waddle, but they think it’s kind of stupid,
You don’t squawk much, but I don’t care
They think you’re free range, but I think you’re kind of pecky.”

It’s a little heard version, several times rarer than 60-watt bulb. Honest!

I remember this being quite an exciting little puppy of a thread a year or two back. In light of the European tour and the impending 20th anniversary of T? I wondered what people thought would make a good set now, after the release of Timber.

RULES: 2 CDs, 15 tracks per CD. Disc 1 1990-2000, Disc 2 2000-2010 Let me know what you think.

I’m not sure why they’d re-visit the 1990-2000 stuff? Even if they were to put out a 2cd comp of both era’s, I’m sure CD1 would have the exact same track-listing as first time around (SMFTTYP). So, I could see the band selecting these tracks (not all my fav’s but what the band has generally played live to date):

1. Gimme Back My Brain
2. This One’s For You
3. If It Kills Me
4. Rust
5. Rise Up (Make Yourself Well)
6. Die Like A Motherfucker
7. Polar Bear
8. Rock You Monkeys
9. Sprung
10. Our White Noise
11. Rain Hits Concrete
12. Walk Through Darkness
13. Enjoy The Struggle
14. Clowns Galore
15. Exiles
16. Crooked Timber

I’d like to see ‘Long Distance’, ‘Deluded Son’, ‘Dance’ etc in there as well, but unlikely.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to included songs from Crooked Timber album. It’s a very fresh record and still search buyers. I would like to see; at least 3 new song. İn the other hand, band is very busy right now, lot of gig, lot of town-so, a live cd or live dvd (as a second cd or from limited edition version) would be great. Also Therapy really enjoy play old songs acoustic. So there would be an acoustic cd like Life of Agony once made (Different than unplugged, for environmental reasons at least…) Or they can built up a retrospective like Funeral for a Friend did last month, backed up with b-sides and rarities. But wahatever they do, they should design a booklet with T? history that written by their perspective. Like “The Gamits” Golden Sometimes record or classic remastered records like,ı don’t know, The Undertones kind…
