Lol. *sigh* well done on getting the proper backwards ‘N’ on NIN. (I get the feeling you want someone to be impressed by it. :p)

Got the DVD also - new guitar player is a nutter on stage.
As per usual, this band is absolute killer live.
As for Survivalism - I like it, this album is going to be different from “with teeth”, gonna be more electronic.

It sounded okay… i think it will be a grower, seems a bit more minimal than other albums. I always find (apart from broken) that NIN stuff needs to be lived with a bit before it clicks.

Just my opinion and I don’t give a fucking damn if someone whines about that! :D

It doesn’t. Have to say I’m not feeling the love with this new album yet.

With teeth has more angry songs on it, more “the world is so bad, everybody is against me, i am so weird” songs. At first, I was a bit sceptical about year zero, but after a few spins I just can’t get it out of my head.

Well even though I thought With teeth was okay and has some great songs… it just sounded like a NIN album no real big surprises and very safe… also the lyrics suffered a bit of OCFA in that the chorus’s were just the title of the song repeated.

The fragile for me anyway… is a bit too long and could have been trimmed a bit. Some excellent songs but i do feel at times he was repeating himself. Also i really think Starfuckers should have been left off completly. I know people wont agree.. but I guess I’m more of a fan of PHM, Broken and TDS era:)

For me it is better than With Teeth as that album had to many songs that were just noisy bla or simply filler to me. On Year Zero I like the electronics, like the beats - only thing that would be missing in my books is an all out agro tune.
For me the Downward Spiral is still number 1, the fragile number 2, but I admire him for going for a different approach. He hasn’t had an album this electronic since Pretty Hate Machine.

But I’d love to hear more Trent playing strings than the machines. A talent guy as he is with strings. And I don’t mean women underwear now. ;)

I saw this the other day
“NINE INCH NAILS mainman Trent Reznor has told StarBulletin.com that the group’s current incarnation will disband after the final show of its current tour on Tuesday (September 18) in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Although Reznor’s touring band of drummer Josh Freese, guitarist Aaron North, bassist Jeordie White and keyboardist Alessandro Cortini are excellent support players, “at this point, I want to switch things around a bit,” he said. “NINE INCH NAILS as a rock band configuration, we’ve done it and we’ve done it again. I see other ways I can present the material in concert, more challenging, something new. I don’t want it to go stale.”
I think I may have already found a sneaky photo of his new idea… sorry to spoil the surprise. ;)
