i think suede were great. “head music” was terrible but everything else i really like. they did some ace b sides too which is always a good sign.

my friend interviewed brett for our uni paper before though and apparently he’s a right tit.

bretts lyrics are at times a tad, ahem, predictable.

I think it’s pretty apparant to everyone that he’s a right tit ;) I want to know what his new solo stuff’s like…he’s got a quite impressive website with some amusing photos, if you’ve not already checked it out.

gimmie - are you sure that it was a school outing to Chessington World of Adventure, but the coaches sat. nav. sent you to the M4 instead?!?!?

I really did like & still do like animal nitrate as it captured the moment so beautifully. I was expecting great things from them, but for me nothing since that has captured my attention to say that I enjoyed it.

Metal mickey and animal nitrate were ok, and i’d even stretch as far as to say so young was ok, but everything else is tat. Classic case of band never realising their early potential.

I LOVE “Coming Up”. “Trash” is a classic.

Brett’s solo album is a bit boring though.

But the production sucked after Dog Man Star.

All shiny and horrible wasp in a jar guitar sounds.

Anyway, they were a good band and they remind me of my exciting teenage years. Anderson had/had an original voice and Butler gave the band the edge they needed. They kind of lost it after their 3rd or 4th album, but I still don’t get why they have been forgotten as quickly as they did.

Liked them at the time, not fussed over them now.

I agree that they produced some great B-Sides -
My Insatiable One, My Dark Star, Killing Of A Flash Boy and all that.

Anderson’s voice just grates on me now, and his lyrical themes were so repetitive it was unreal..”Wow, Brett, ANOTHER song about romantically lost souls walking the concrete streets..?! Give over, son…”

And Bernard Butler wasn’t the guitar hero he was made out to be.

Still, Stay Together is a great single, and the first album has some absolute classics on too.

I think he has one of those one-man-band kits - harmonica in front of mouth, cymbals strapped to knees, drum operated by left foot etc.

Either that or he has a backing band?
