New Wildhearts Album / The Sweetest Song

#

Started by Gimme Back My Brainsaw (Mike Hunt)

The Wildhearts are set to release their eponymous album on the 23rd April. Released on Round Records and featuring Ginger, CJ, Ritch Battersby and Scott Sorry, it promises to be a riff-stormer of a record. The album will be preceded by a download only single: ‘The Sweetest Song’, released on the 9th April, which will be available from iTunes (and others which will be posted as we get them)

In Ginger’s words “We are really proud of this album. It marks what honestly feels like a fresh start in what has been an up-and-down career for the band. Gone are the drugs and alcohol problems. There is a focus and determined spirit in the band now, which we think we have captured perfectly on this album. The melodies are still there, the big choruses are still there, but the mammoth guitar riffs are back and heavier than ever. We’re excited to have you along for this fresh new stage in the on-going legacy that is The Wildhearts.”

The tracklist is as follows:

Rooting For The Bad Guy
The Sweetest Song
The Revolution Will Be Televised
The New Flesh
Slaughtered Authors
The Hard Way
Inner City Overture
Bi Polar Baby
She’s All That
Destroy All Monsters

Title: The Sweetest Song (merged)

At the risk of being merged, I started this new thread to recommend the new Wildhearts single to everyone.

It is available to download now and it is a great return to form from Ginger after his dismal recent solo album.

The main riff is really heavy for Ginger, and then it gives way to a really catchy melodic chorus.

Give it a listen it’s good.

You can merge me into the Wildhears thread now Rene.

Sorry!

There new album is out next monday and from the reviews its has so far it could quite possibly be there best ever!!!

Get Earth Vs or I will hunt you down and personally kill you.

p.h.u.q. is a good follow up with some great tunes.

Fishing for Luckies is brilliant, but all the songs are 10 minutes long so not particularly accessible.

Endless Nameless took about 3 years to get used to but some of the songs on it are genius.

Must Be Destroyed is a good album but lacks the replay factor of Earth Vs.

The Wildhearts, out on 23rd is supposed to be their best yet, but everyone says that about everything they release.

“our new album, it’s OK I suppose, 3 or 4 good songs, but the rest are just fillers and failed B-Sides.” Never seen that in an interview, you?

Obviously you’re exaggerating since only one song passes the 10 minute mark, but I still have to jump in and say that there are “only” four really long songs on the album. The rest is either normal radio single length (Sick Of Drugs, Red Light - Green Light, Soul Searching…, In Like Flynn) or especially short (Mood Swings And Roundabouts, Nite Songs… the actual song anyway, not counting the annoying hidden track).

And it’s a GREAT album, I would recommend this one or “p.h.u.q” for a start. Or “The Best Of The Wildhearts” which is a nice compilation of some of their finest tracks.

“Earth Vs. The Wildhearts” isn’t so great to me. It’s got two or three really good tracks on it and some more that they keep playing live for some reason, although most of the songs sound awfully dated by now. I probably don’t enjoy the album as much as the regular Wildhearts fan because that was not the album that got me into the band.

Sorry - I was referring to the original run, fan club only version of fishing for luckies - 4/6 songs are very long - I should have made myself a bit clearer.
