A question for the “more die hard than me” fans

Started by Sylvestre Matuschka in General Therapy? Topics

I lost interest in Therapy? after Suicide Pact (sorry, did not like that one), but using the theory that all bands can make a duff album I recently bought One Cure Fits All, and I have to say, it’s pretty enjoyable.

What are the albums they released in between like? Any advice???

In my opinion, NANE and High Anxiety are better than One Cure Fits All.. Which I didn’t think was great (Though it did grow on me and I listen to it sometimes)

Oh deary me, if you have missed out on the three in between - Shameless, High Anxiety and Never Apologise Never Explain - then, in my opinion, you have missed the three best albums of their career!

1. Shameless
very standard rock music my Therapy?’s standards. Few good hard rockers and some nice indie moments, but overall a weak attempt in my books. Was at least an attempt to be somewhat commercial again (suicide pact was as non-commercial as it gets!). Dunno, in many ways it doesn’t even sound like Therapy? - have to love them for trying new stuff.

2. High Anxiety
Proper return to form in my books and I know plenty who jumped ship after suicide pact, yet were drawn back in by this album. Good Heavy tunes with a feel good vibe and sarcasm which sometimes reminds of Troublegum. Neil Cooper’s Drumming clearly adds back to the pace and heaviness of the band.

3. Never Apologize, Never Explain
Really heavy and noisy album - but absolutely excellent. Probably the best album released after Suicide Pact IMO. Not really many commercial tunes on here, but my god do they grow on you. The aggression and power on this disc makes it a winner.

Some may not agree with the above, but that is my take.

Yeah, I believe he should be eased back in by High Anxiety though before listening to the beast that is NANE.

Never forget the first time I listened to NANE - bought it on the way home from work, popped it straight in the CD player when I got home, cracked open a beer and loved it first listen…
