Peter Jackson’s ‘Brain Dead’

AKA: Dead Alive.

Anyone remember this film? Its hilarious, reminds me of Evil Dead in places. And has some of the wackiest death scenes I’ve ever seen! :D

See what you think:

It’s ace, as is Bad Taste. Didn’t enjoy Meet the Feebles though.

I’m looking forward to seeing what he does with The Lovely Bones, it’s an amazing book so I hope he does it justice.

Wow I didn’t know he was directing that. I thought that the book was quite good but I stopped reading for some reason at the part where *SPOLIERS*…

…The Mum starts havin an affair with the policeman…

(*SPOLIERS END*) And I never picked it up again. A similar book I heard that’s getting made into a film is Revolutionary Road, staring Kathy Bates, Leo Di Caprio, Kate Winslet etc. The book was grim! As for Braindead, was good when I was 14, let’s see if it still is!

Meet the Feebles was better, though, IMO. Totally original concept.

Bad Taste, Brain Dead and Meet The Feebles are all class. Early Peter Jackson is up there with Lord of the Rings, although slightly disturbing at the same time.

Hm, now that you mention it, I guess I feel the same way.

“Bad Taste”… adorable for the way it was made, but fucking boring.

“Dead Alive”… adorably for the gore finale, but other than that fucking boring.

“Lord Of The Rings”… first part okay, the rest - you guessed it - fucking boring.

“King Kong”… meh

The only movie by Jackson that I found entertaining (but NOT great by any means) was “The Frighteners”. Haven’t seen “Meet The Feebles” and “Heavenly Creatures”, yet.

Haven’t seen Bad Taste or Meet the Feebles but loved Braindead. The Lawnmower sequence is so cool! The film is up there with Evil Dead II!
