Bass wise i think the most annoying thing on …AJFA is that there are no bass solo passages where Jase gets to play on his own, not even for one note! But then; he does only play along with the rhythm guitar and do occasional octaves - he never actually wrote any interesting proper basslines did he? Unless you count the slide in ‘Don’t Tread On Me’!!

And Blackened. Someone told me the main riff of that was earmarked as a flotsam and jetsam song before he left to join the ‘Tallica.

St. Anger wasn’t that bad as people keep telling. Think it this way; if they wouldn’t do St. Anger and they would came out with another Loaded again, that would have been their last album. C’mon St. Anger was the only solution to make a comeback, back to the heavier sound. There are no solos and drums sounding hollow but songs are good in my books. And I’m positive about the forthcoming album. If they realise to get the best things out from Master Of Puppets and spice it with some Kill ‘em All energy, things would be pretty good. :)

It’s in fashion to blame bands these days so fuck you Guns ‘n Rosies :P But I’d like to hear their Chinese Democracy too. :) Let’s be positive and get badly suprised. :D

Oh, this post was ‘bout Kirk..Captain Kirk isn’t maybe the smartest but how much grass he’s been taking or something like that. It might damage the brains. Just might.

And of course, some of the songs could have done with abeing a bit shorter! ;)

St. Anger was the biggest pile of shite ever released to the human ear - the playing was sloppy, the recording sounded like it cost a few dollars, no guitar solos (sorry man, as a thrasher and guitar player I miss those even though Kirks solos sound the same alot of the time to me), Lars playing on a thrash can, the songs being way too long (c’mon - 3 minutes would have done for any of those songs as they lack any exciting changes) and James sounded like he is neutered!

I liked everything up to the Black album (yes, even the black album), but after that they just lost me.

I am not going to make the mistake of buying there new album (which will probably be release in 5 years after another few “the studio sucks” tours) before I listen to it. After the last 3 i have learned my lesson.

Megadeth > Metallica - quite simple really.

But like I said after these Loads and Reloads and S & M, St. Anger was the only thing they’d come up. But that’s not a great album like the first five albums. Ever. SA is good, I’d never listened to the album from the beginning to the end ‘cos it’s such a work for my ears.
But I’m holding high hopes of the new album if they’re really going to pick out the best ideas from Puppets and mix it with something new.

And the drum sound on St. Anger was like hitting beer cans. I really hated it at first but nowadays it’s only an annoying sound. :D But Lars had to make something to disguide people noticing his bad timing you know? ;) They should get Mike Mangini behind the drums and send Lars to Vikingarna! :D

Man was that a great gig, yeah fucking yeah it was! They didn’t play any SA, but they played many other classics like Battery, Creeping Death, the whole Puppets…amazing set!

Blackened is their best song ever but i find Justice boring to listen to in one go. The title track and stuff like Frayed Ends Of Sanity could have been cut down a bit.

The thing I like about Metallica tho is that they remain current: ie they still churn out albums that are relevant to the music scene (no matter what the quality), they aren’t a cabaret act despite being around for lots of years now. Look at Sabbath, Aerosmith and the Motley Crue comeback - cabaret for money. At least Metallica releasing an album is an event on the rock calender to see what they’re gonna do with metal next. Even Slayer can’t fuck with that…. My God I do go on, just call me Lars!! :eek:
