Dimmu Borgir & TON yesterday here in Tampere at the Sauna Open Air metal fest.
Dimmu: excellent, TON: fucking boring (last time seeing them back in 96 and nothin´has changed: hightlights from their set was Christian women and Love you to death)!
Dimmu setlist:
Intro
Progenies of the
Vredsbyrd
Cataclysm
Kings of the
Sorgens kammer
Indoctrination
A succubus in
The serpentine
Short drum solo
The chosen
The insight and
——————————
Spellbound
Mourning palace
The fallen-outro

It was as excellent as we expected! This band has become one of our favourites in a short time. Dunno really what´s so fucking excellent about them as other bands of this kinda music don´t mean a shit to us:D
It´s the music as we´re no fuckin´ satanist´s or anything like that:)
And hell yes, it started raining really heavily when they hit the stage but it didn´t bother us and the rest of the audience at all:)Lost my freakin´voice again:p
Today Heaven & Hell at the same festival.

Black label society & Ozzy at Hartwall arena last nite in Hellsinki.
BLS: well, a tight 45 mins set. I don´t know very well their material but there was a couple of good/excellent tunes there.
Ozzy: he sang better than I expected as there was going on rumours that he has lost his voice almost totally. Quit short set, 13 songs inc. two Sabbath ones (War pigs&Paranoid(Of course:)).
Bark at the moon, Mr Crowley, Not going away,Beliver, Road to nowhere, Suicide solution, I don´t know, Here for you
,I don´t want to change the world, Mama I´m coming home, Crazy train.
It was an excellent gig, worth spending the money again.

And it was nice to meet Pogue Mahoney there before Ozzy´s set. See U Pogue at your gig here in Tampere, I´ll be there in the frontrow, singing, U know what;)

Yes, Ozzy was Ozzy:cool:
It was really nice surprise to meet you. I don´t mean it was surprise to see you at the Ozzy´s gig…
I´m quite sure that Pete is going to sing “Who knows”;)
Tomorrow we are starting to record our new demo.Three songs called: My Evil Ways, Newborn Sin, The Birmingham Ash. You´ll get the copy.
Hopefully gig in Tampere..let´s say in October.
Cheers!

Heaven & Hell, Swallow the sun, Dark Tranquillity and Sonata Arctica at the Sauna Open Air Metal Festival here in Tampere.
H&H: just ok! Always nice to hear Iommi´s riffs and watch him play. Geezer is a magnificent bassplayer. Dio: not my favourite singer but did his part of the gig fine.
Watch out for Swallow the sun: I bet they´re going to be the next “big thing” from our country. Excellent doom metal!

6.6.07 in Helsinki Hartwall Arena, OZZY with BLS.

Black Label Society played a very tight package. Nothing anything to add on that.

But when John came with Blasko, Zakk and Mike, all hell broke loose. Ozzy was fucking crazy on stage throwing water buckets on the audience and kept tolding us to show the fucking hands. And of course I did so all the time. They played Bark At The Moon, War Pigs, Road To Nowhere, I Don’t Wanna Stop, Paranoid, (it’s a practical joke in Finland to yell in every place where music is been played “PLAY PARANOID!”) Mr. Crowley (the opening song after Carmina Burana intro) and etc. and of course they also played CRAZY TRAIN! Ozzy’s gig was great stuff from the start to the finish! Zakk tried to kill his guitar behind neck, by using his tongue and torturing the noise making thing approx. 15-20 minutes. I don’t know how long he played ‘cos I lost the sense of time. Zakk made magical things with his little toy, incredible noises and sounds. Never seen anything like that on live. Honestly.

Maybe one of the greatest gigs I’ve ever been in my live.

Crazy Train made me go fucking crazy. And I almost lost my voice. And one thing when you see BLS live: remember to bring the ear plugs because the band will destroy your ears. Almost.

Lou Reed’s Berlin last night at Paris

With his band,a choral singing and a brass section,he played his album “Berlin” completly in order.

for the encores he played :”Sweet Jane”,”Satellite of Love”,”Take a Walk and the Wild Side” and a new song(?)I didn’t catch the title track “Dance on the Mid New Rock” or so,with a Jazzy part in the middle.

haven’t seen the guy on stage before (Just once but with the Velvet Underground as Guests of U2 on the Zooropa Tour) and didn’t know much about him,but his concert was ace!!!!

Hyde Park Calling - Sunday

The Answer were really good. Got the crowd going well. Now getting the album Rise.

Jet disappointing, nothing new.

Chris Cornell - Stonking. Plenty of the top Soundgarden & Audioslave song. The solo stuff actually sounded better live than on the CD, was pleasantly surprised.

Aerosmith - Simply legends. The energy from the near 60 year olds put the everyone to shame. Bashed the hits like there was no tomorrow - get the crowd into a frenzy.

Yes I did have a sore throat this morning, but a smile on my face after less than 5 hours sleep :D

Dear God Machine Head kicked ass which resulted in major circle pits

Metallica were brilliant as usual.

Unfortunately we also had to witness Mastodon who were crap just like the week before in Werchter and HIM… well, everybody ignored them when they were playing :D

Tracks of My Tears, I Second That Emotion and Tears of a Clown are all bona fide classics, in my book.

And that’s before I even mention the excellent version of Tears of a Clown by The Specials…

EDIT:

@ Robby VDH

I am surprised no-one on here has done an in-depth review of the Metallica Wembley gig - Could you tell us a bit more about it, please? Any new material? Any surprises from the vaults? etc etc

HIM were just horrible and I wasn’t the only one who thought that. Still don’t understand what the hell they were doing there.

Mastodon played the same set as the week before in Werchter and I really don’t like them. Boring to say the least.

Machine Head ruled ! They only got to play 40’ but man they kicked ass  Played a couple of new ones and finished with Davidian resulting in total chaos :D As our tickets were upgraded to VIP tickets, we were very close to the artist entrance so we got to meet Dave McClain who signed my ticket  And we also met the bodyguard of mr James Hetfield, big man

Metallica was great, but no new material. In fact I think they have only played 1 new song so far on the tour and even then it’s one they played last year already. But it was an excellent setlist including Fade To Black, Whiplash, And Justice For All (full version), For Whom The Bell Tolls, The Four Horsemen, … brilliant

Wembley looked amazing, just sorry that they had to ask £8 for a fucking simple chicken and chips that even tasted like shit

Thanks for the review Robby! It´s interesting to hear (we´re not going to be at the Olympic stadium in Hellsinki but several buddies of us will be) how the audience will react when HIM hits the stage here in Finland next Sunday before Metallica. There will be another support act too, Diablo from Tampere, our town. I can say that Diablo is faraway from HIM:D
