I liked Jason. Plus, fair play to him for leaving the band once the guy in the blue sweater got involved.

As a technical bass player, definitely Rob, as a songwriter definitely Cliff.

Look how shit their songwriting went after the good man died.

Went for Cliff as he was on their greatest album, MOP. Rob is good and all but he hasn’t even appeared on a record, plus when he plays live he pulls this ‘I’m gonna have a shit’ pose that doesn’t do it for me.

Have to agree on that. I doubt Cliff would’ve played on the Black album.

I couldn’t really care less out of all of them, other than Rob looks the coolest.

The bassist is hardly the most essential member of a band like Metallica, is he?

With Metallica,

definitely not. Anything a Metallica bass player does is drowned out by overloud guitars.

If you don’t believe me, check out devil’s dance or whatever the tune is called on Reload. in the beginning you hear bass nicely, as soon as the guitar kicks in, bye bye bass…

Cliff played well, but I don’t feel the same kind of ‘relationship’ if you get what I mean?

You have to look at what each bassist brought to the band… the difference in songwriting is massive between Kill ‘Em All (mostly written before Cliff joined) and Ride The Lightning, then you get Master of Puppets!

Jason brough gurning to the band and Rob took that on board and added a funny frog walk.

Sure Rob can play but does he really add anything? - I guess we will find out in about 2 years when they actually bother to finish the album / therapy sessions.
