Yeah, Turn are class. The ‘mightily over-rated’ Frames should be supporting them, not the other way round.

Also, Turn are supporting the God-awful Aslan at the Point. Just goes to show how shit the Irish music industry is when a band as crap as Aslan can get away with playing in the Point. Only in Dublin would that shit happen. They played a small pub in Clonmel (my town) lately, and I wasn’t arsed to go to it. A pub to the Point? What’s going on… What’s wrong with Dublin people? “Christy Dignam is God, boy” etc…

Another travesty is the fact that Turn are supporting them. Surely they didn’t have to? By the way, did you catch their Witnness gig on 2FM last week? Deadly buzz…

I go on that site everyday. And it’s only when you mentioned names that I thought “is there a message board there?” - low and behold, there IS one! How fuckin thick am I? How long has it been there?

Don’t suppose you’ve any of those acoustic tracks that Ollie’s always playing on FM104 or Phantom, do you? It pisses me off that I know nobody in Dublin who could tape them for me.

I’ve all their releases (including all the vinyls) but I’d love to get some bootlegs or those radio things. Only seen them the once, that was supporting Wilt before the Check Your Ears EP came out. I remember Muse were supposed to play but pulled out. Turn became scapegoats cos they were the replacements. I thought they were cool though.

Sorry Dude.. i’m in cork and cant get Phantom… but i’ll see what i can do. I seem to be friendly with alot of very resourceful people. If anything come up i’ll let you know. I’m also in the process of starting some kind of “Live Gig Recordings” so when thats sorted i can trade some copies of their live gigs …

Title: To Canadian Kyra (!)

There was alot of reports in Hot Press (Irish Music Mag) bout him leaving but there hasnt been any substancial evidence to suggest a break up or anything bout Gav leaving… if he does leave it will most likely be to Idlewild
As regards your name… well a buddy of mine spells her name the same as you and her Grand Father (who is Canadian in origin) was the one who is responsible for her name sake…
I’ll try keeping you posted bout TURN gigs, in the meantime try http://www.turn.ie and post a message to “Terry” or “JJ” they always seem to have more answers than me!!! Or else you could E-mail turn@indigo.net (i think thats the address) ENJOY and Rock On!

i reckon canada might adopt me - it’s just about time they did :D - since i’m mad about our lady peace and the tragically hip who are, in fact, canadian..
if that had been possible, ireland should have done that too..

Are they aware of the on-suing dubble standard they place upon us… *getting carried away now, sorry, its an emotional day*

i’ve just found this on idlewild official website:

Gavin Fox will replace Bob Fairfoull as bass player in Idlewild.
The 23 year old Dubliner has been a close friend of the band for several years and formerly played in the band Turn.

Along with Gavin, Allan Stewart, who has played guitar live with Idlewild for the last 2 years, and also contributed to
“The Remote Part” album, will now become a full time member.

As previously reported, Idlewild are on tour until the end of the year with technician, Alex Grant, filling in on bass duties.
The new line up makes its debut at the following dates in 2003:

JANUARY 2003
30th: Derry Nerve Centre
31st: Belfast Queens University

FEBRUARY 2003
1st: Dublin Ambassador
3rd: Whitehaven Civic Hall
5th: Aberdeen Music Hall
6th: Glasgow Barrowlands
7th: Cardiff University

The band will then depart to Australia and the USA for shows to support the release of ‘The Remote Part’.

Yeah, it’s true, Gavin’s leaving. His last gig will be New Years Eve at the TBMC in Dublin.

TURN won’t be splitting up though, as they have an album called “Forward” coming out in February.

DISASTER!!!!

I’ve just found out that TURN’s new bassist is from ex of Skindive.

His name is Alan Lee.

I am gonna get some slagging cos of this. All I need now is Alan Lee from Rotherham United to break into the Ireland soccer team. Then the circle of embarassment would be complete.

they could have gone for graham hopkins instead. i think they know each other, don’t they?

i personally can’t wait to see gavin playing with the ‘wild boys next year, although i kinda got used to their current bass player, a certain alex who’s a technician of theirs. he’s pretty cool. i’m sorry to say that they sound a lot better without bob fairfull.
