I’ve been wondering, are they a metal-band, a punk-band, or maybe punk-metal, or just none of them.

Yep, I’m with WP. There’s too much variation to pigeon hole them. The only one that offends me is when people say “Punk Pop” - they’re not a sodding pop band, punk or otherwise dammit. Vent over :D

Yeah, They’re too varied to be lumped into one category. One label that’s ultra offensive though is when they’re called a Brit - Pop band - they’re not bloody Blur or Oasis or similar muck

i’d call them a rock band, because they play different styles of (rock) music. sometimes they’re a bit more angry, sometimes they sound very melodic. it changes from record to record, but it’s always been rock music.

when i started listening to them in 1993, i remember they described their music as punk for the attitude, metal for the sound and sometimes industrial for the use of samples and techno beats.
now i think the metal sound is gone (and it’s better i think though at the time it was cool).

They have the punk attitude, they use metal riffs. (Well mostly on Troublegum only). Let’s call it a heavy guitar rockband. :D

A heavy guitar rockband, alright I can live with that. I can also agree with the punk attitude, but I can’t agree with the metal riffs, ‘cause I can hardly stand metal riffs, and I really like Therapy?-riffs, so please leave the metalriffs behind! :)

Rock for me.
I suppose you can detect some punky attitude and some metally stuff. Not much though.

Not too keen on very specific genres anyway.
Metal being the worst offender.
There’s…
Doom
Thrash
Speed
Melodic
Heavy
Sludge
Hardcore
Death
I don’t know why it’s like that.

WTF!
It’s just Rock’n’Roll man.

with “they” i refer to therapy?, not to the reviewers.
i think this description was right in 1993, not now.

HMV, Virgin and other music stores all list T? under different genres so I’m not to sure what I’d class em as. They’re rock, metal and very slightly alternative but I wouldn’t call em punk :)
