Yeah, I got really into the Almighty in the mod 90’s off the back off A. J. Cairns’ vocal spot in Jonestown Mind.

Good top notch hard rockin’ stuff - I always thought they tried to be a bit too smart though.

I only bought Crank and Just Add Life, but they’re both corkers - don’t know what the rest of their back catalogue is like, but I would like to check them out live if they ever tour near me.

Powertrippin’ is a really good album…they were the first band I ever saw live, supporting Iron Maiden at Sheffield Arena in 1993!

The Almighty are a great band, saw them twice once at an early Donington and once supporting Metallica back in 93.
I think Andy is on the last album as well, he has a credit but It doesn’t say what he does.

Anthfuckingology is a good place to start if you haven’t got much of their stuff - comes with a bonus dvd too!

The early stuff is a bit cock-rock / shit and some of their later albums were a bit patchy in places but Powertrippin & Crank are classics

Don’t know if there’ll be much chance of them touring again. The bass player is recovering from lukeamia. They played a couple of charity shows in London and Glasgow at the end of 2005, (which were their first for years) then toured the UK at the end of 2006. They don’t have plans to do something together for a while cos Ricky Warwick is concentrating on his solo stuff.

But, yeah, hopefully they will tour again and pretty soon. It’s always a great show. And the Anthfuckinology album is a great place to start for anyone thats interested in hearing them.

I remember watching them in Manchester with Alice In Chains and Megadeth, fucking awesome gig for £10, loved Soul Destruction album, and always remember at the time having slight envy of Ricky Warwick being married to Vanessa from Headbangers Ball.

I remember that the singer/guitarist Rick Warwick had this questionmark tattoo somewhere on his head, am I right?

I was at that gig. I haven’t got round to buying the dvd yet, but it was a great gig so should make a half decent dvd.

Soul Destruction.

Crucified is a good song. True that the earlier stuff is a bit cock rock as someone said, but the tunes were better :D

Powertrippin’ is a bit hit and miss with me but the title track is good - “Hear the drummer get wicked” ah bless..
