The album version of Diane does indeed suck - I just forgot to mention it! :D
I thought the later version (the one from LCO single) kinda sucked too. I was glad they didn’t play the song at all in Dublin last week.
The version they played live back in 1996/97 was cool, with the bass intro. They should’ve continued with that version.
Husker Du’s version is great though.

How exactly is Andy off key during Dead? I don’t get it. Are we hearing different songs?
However, I think there is a case for Panic. I think the chorus is just wrong. Deffo the poorest tune on NANE.
But over all, Hypermania and DLC have to be T? worst moments I think. (With Or Without You is pretty close too).
I made a thread about off key vocals in NANE. Didn’t notice it on Dead, but I still can’t figure out why nobody but me seems to think parts of Long Distance and This Ship is Sinking are definitely off key. And am not talking about vocals being tuned up here - you don’t need pro tools to be in key.
Back to the topic…
60 watt bulb. Dear Lord what a sack of shit. Annoying riff, dreadful lyrics.

I dont think that every song Therapy? has made is to attract people. e.g. With or without you. Fucking great track. I think there is a reason why they recorded the song the way they have done. I believe if they wanted to made a great cover maybe for commercial reasons, they will have done it. I think they make kind of fun about the original version of the song as creapy as the song really is.
As I see it every song therapy? made has got it reasons why it was the made the way they did. Everyone should try to understand why Therapy? made this song.
If you take a look at 60 Watt Bulb or Nice Guys. These are just b-sides. They had an idea about a song and recorded it without wasting much time to make it perfect. Turn the volume of your stereo up and the listen to them again, maybe try to figure these songs out with your guitar(if u can play) and play a long, and I bet you will like them after a while.
Songs like Diane and Bowels of Love you will like if you like strings or you dont like these songs.
Or songs like Valentines Day. I cant say that this track has any kind of structure like a song. There are any other reasons why these tracks were recorded. Maybe you can say about it that it is kind of art.
In my opinion you should listen to songs a couple of times more often. It maybe will change your mind you had on the first time listen to them. Get in to the music read the lyrics.
So LETS GET NAKED !!!
:D
P.S.: Ok Body Bag Girl is really a hard song to like ;)

Body Bag Girl (surprise)
Diane - I only got the LCA single recently and found out to my dissapointment that it was just as bad as the Infernal Love version.

It seems that since troublegum, therapy always have to have like one really poppy punky type tune. On High anxiety, they had 3 inlcuding the hidden track. But Voodoo doll, is just a really FUcking annoying whiney sounding song and i could never understand why they thought it was a good live choice of song. Its the only song of theirs i consider pure bollocks. Lazy Bollocks.
Apart from that, all their other songs are more or less perfect, if not on album, then cranked up live, like any songs of nurse. Boring on cd, played live, mental.

Unrequited, Alrite, and God Kicks are the ones that I think of when I think of T? songs that I can’t stand and always skip. I’m still getting used to N.A.N.E. so I’m not gonna comment on any that I like or not there.
Personally, I like Body Bag Girl, but think it would have been better as a Rob Zombie song.

I haven’t liked Unrequited, too, for most of the last ten years. I’m starting to enjoy it nowadays, though, but it still isn’t my favourite Troublegum Song.
What I like about Body Bag Girl is it starts of like that Weezer Song “Keep Fishing” but goes on a bit evil. Great song. :)
I also like God Kicks, I it kinda reminds me of Johnny Cash in his old days. Like on “Hurt”.

well thats arguable, although it is pure piss. i remember being at the dvd gig and getting excited cos they started off diane in quite a similar fasion to what they did on the shameless tour, but after one verse (on the shameless tour) had cello, drums, bass and guitar. this version was magnificent! but the one on scopophobia was not.
i like deep sleep too, but out of all the rest getting slagged off, can’t understand bowels of love. i remember my mates at school slagging it off for being country just after IL came out, but this made me love it even more. i love the way therapy? could release something ‘country’ straight after troublegum. this is what makes them so interesting. sure enough they get it wrong every so often (MVD) but thats life…

Tastes are different and I wouldn’t say I really hate a T? song. But my aversion towards Diane is based on the fact that the song meant so much to me long before T? covered it and I just think their version doesn’t capture the spirit of the song.

At the moment I can’t hear “Nowhere” but this will pass again, sometimes I don’t listen to an album for ages and then I sort of find it again in my collection.
