Started by Kill_Hill (Brendan)

Reports are coming in the he may be out with a fractured cheek bone. Some cunt punched him in the face off the ball. Nothing confirmed but it looks bad.

Just read the sum-up of the game ,and apparently a very physical “friendly” one with 5 yellow cards given…The Irish players seemed to practise a good passing game with many options for the owner of ball,They’ll be dangerous for France for sure during the RWC…

Just hope that BOD will recover as well from his injury soon,a RWC without him would a big loss for Ireland and for the show…I’m wondering who punched BOD…but I bet it’s Richard Dourthe,he sometimes cannot control his temper, and you know in the french Championship, this team of Bayonne are able to give their opponents some “good” caresses

O’Driscoll was forced to leave the pitch during the second half at Stade Jean Dauger after being struck by lock Mikaera Tewhata.

That off the rte web site http://www.rte.ie/sport/rugby/2007/0816/ireland1.html

Imagine working as hard as he has only to be taken out by some one like that. If it is a fracture and he does miss the WC he will be devastated, and rightly so.

Depends what he said. He shouldn’t have said it. Provocation deserves retaliation, especially in sport, because it’s funny.

I read that it was some New Zealand born player who did it?

Tubthumper - it does not matter what the fuck he said. You are provoking me with such a stupid comment, would that justify me breaking your cheekbone?

Hope BOD is OK - he is a class player and deserves to grace the world stage with his skill.

As for the player who did to this - may you rot in hell.

Ah,

You’re fine. I just can’t believe this. We are actually in with a fighting chance of winning the World Cup and it could be ruined because of some douchebag taking a cheap shot.

Rugby is a gents sport, no place for that kind of shit.

Well,

He is Ireland’s captain and main playmaker, so yeah.

For some twat to take him out of the world cup because of an off the ball incident is a fucking disgrace in my books and I hope he sucks cocks in hell.

It ain’t as bad as we first thought BOD fans. He has a fractured sinus and he had to get 7-9 stitches to his face. He didn’t even see it coming. He will miss the first game of the WC. Make up your mind Tubthumper, did he or didn’t he deserve to be smashed in the face? What a nice gent you are.

Tubthumper- From what I read on several rugby forums and from what some people who went to see the game said :some players were fighting against each other,BOD went to separate them and calm them down but that dude ( Tewhata ) punched him with no particular reason…

I wonder if the fact that he is New Zealand born (he is, isn’t he?) would lead back the old grudge against BOD from the Lions tour where they tried to spear him into the ground for throwing a blade of grass.

I seriously doubt that anything is going to happen to this dude, if anything the French are probably delighted.

As far as I know, there’s a certain Andy Trimble playing this Friday night against Italy (I’m at the match - won 2 tickets!)

Simple really, without BOD and Shaggy Horgan, I’ve put down a team worth fielding.

1: Marcus Horan / Bryan Young
2: Rory Best
3: John Hayes / Simon Best if Hayes gets injured.
4: Donncha O’Callaghan
5: Paul O’Connell
6: Neil Best (His best position)
7: Stephen Ferris
8: Dennis Leamy
9: Isaac Boss / Eoin Reddan (Haven’t seen enough of Reddan to think he should be first choice 9 and don’t get me started on Stringer )
10: Ronan O’Gara (although I hate him, miles better kicker than Paddy Wallace)
11: Dennis Hickie
12: Gordon D’arcy
13: Andy Trimble
14: Geordan Murphy (Carney is not good enough for Rugby Union at this level. And Tommy Bowe will never be an International)
15: Girvan Dempsy

I know someone will talk about the ‘absence’ of Simon Easterbunny, but I think the back row I’ve selected is probably the best we’ll get out of Ireland for this World Cup at least.
Although surely Comical Eddie will decide to play Neil Best out of position just so that his little Simon gets on the pitch!

And before I have any Munster fans on me, Jerry Flannery is shit! ;)

Colin - you plainly haven’t got a clue about rugby! Flannery is a far better player than Best - his absence is a mystery to me and smacks of O’ Sullivan playing politics. Boss is an average scrum half with a slow arcing pass who slows the ball down everytime he gets it - Stringer is extremely effective. I know you want to see some Nordies on the team N. Best and Trimble are worth their places. Ferris insted of Wallace? No O’Callaghan? Take my bias for Munster away and I still couldn’t arrive at a team like that.
Enjoy the game on Friday (I’ll keep an eye out for you on the box)

Lenny, O’Callaghan is wearing the 4 shirt! :)

We’ve had the JerryisbetterthanRory argument many times, and each to our own opinion. :) Rory has the better line out IMHO.

Boss is a very good scrum half! Stringer is extremely effective? If you call flapping your arms at the back of a ruck or scrum effective then yes, he is extremely effective!
Ok, perhaps a slight exaggeration or my Ulster bias shining through with the Ferris instead of Wallace. I should have put Ferris or Wallace.

Glad you seemed to have agreed with the rest of my selections though! :)
And I’ll probably be near all the banners on the Terrace on Friday night.
