I really don’t like the new format - Ive given them the benefit of the doubt but they are jsut so inconvenient to use compared to before. It was great to be able to see topics at a glance - bring back the old table please!

Auto_Surgery, I use Windows XP Professional at home and Linux for web hosting.

The colour scheme seems to come up quite often, and I plan to add a feature enabling you to choose between a couple of colour schemes, hopefully containing a good one for everybody.

I have to admit there’s something that puzzles me a bit, though. The base colour scheme here is black text and blue links on a white background. I don’t know which other sites you guys use (Google?), but I dare to say this is hardly revolutionary. I don’t want to second guess the readability issues some people are having, but please forgive me if I take a remark such as “everything but the WoM looks perfect” with a grain of salt.

I can’t help but think that this feeling is at least partly down to the fact that the new WoM is quite different compared to the old one (although the colour scheme isn’t that different) and that change can be uncomfortable. I also think that it may be other things that create a problem for some, like the fonts used, text size, fluid layout vs. fixed, etc., and that it’s not necessarily the colour scheme. If this is the case, I will obviously look into addressing these.

(Don’t get me wrong, Tom, this isn’t directed at you specifically - there have been more comments in the same vain - but yours was the one that triggered me to write something about this subject)

Bl**dy hell Rene, I go away for 2 weeks and you have to go fiddling around with things that i have asked you REPEATEDLY not to touch! I KNEW you weren’t responsible enouigh to be left on your own but oooohhhh no - you had to prove you were a grown up, didn’t you? And NOW look what you’ve done!! I can’t believe this. Thank God we have insurance. And seeing as I’m here I might as well tell you that the worst bits are that I can’t tell who is the most recent poster on a thread or reply without scrolling up and down or quote a post or browse the threads without getting stressed out. And have you any idea how much it is going to cost to redecorate? Now go to your room and stay there before I lose my temper. Thank goodness Mr H isn’t alive to see this…

rene - thanks for the update on possible new changes, always helps (me especially as I’m still getting used to the new set up).

mrs h - couldn’t you find Vent My Spleen! quickly enough. But I must agree that I am missing Who The Last Poster Was & and even though reading the guidance (thanks again rene), I’m still making mistakes. But that’s life!

Well I suppose I will get used to it eventually. And there are some useful new additions - I never really understood those weird little envelope things on the old site - ‘updated’ or ‘new’ is much more useful.

It’s good to have you back, mrs h, the WoM just isn’t the same (without you) :-)

I’ve uploaded several changes to the interface a few minutes ago, which should hopefully fix a few of the issues some of you were having.

Thank you Rene, I can see perfectly well that it isn’t the same without me. For one thing it’s all gone black and white. When I first got back I thought I must have turned into a dog

So are these new changes going to bugger up all of the things I’ve just got used to? Honestly  Someone isn’t likely to get a visit from Santa this year :p

Can we upload images? :)

Woof, woof!

Sorry, I mean no, they shouldn’t bugger up anything :-)

1. The first post of a discussion is no longer displayed on all pages, and the page links are shown on top of each page as well as on the bottom.
2. ‘Start a new discussion’ and ‘Post a reply’ are now displayed as buttons on the top right corner of the relevant pages.
3. RSS feeds (‘Subscribe to …’) have been moved to the page footer.
4. The category selection link in the grey bar now has a bigger icon, to make it stand out more.
5. The left border on quotes has been made thicker to increase the difference between a quote and the rest of a post.
6. All grey icons have been made a bit darker.

The yellow highlight is used to notify you of a change that has taken place.

This not only applies to new posts, but is also used when you make a change in your account, for example.

I don’t agree with this. I always selected a section, like for example “Therapy? live”, you get a lot less results that way, and it makes it easier to find the thing you were looking for.
Apart from that, I have completely accepted the new forum, and I really enjoy it! :)

I’m happy to hear that you’re enjoying the new boards, An, that’s great news :-)

It’s already possible to limit the search results to a single category, by clicking on ‘all categories’ in the grey bar after you’ve done a search. I admit this isn’t very clear, and you’ll be happy to hear that there will be more (and hopefully easier to use) search options in the near future, including selecting a category before doing a search. I do agree with mrs h on the improved relevance of the search results (that’s what I assume she is referring to, at least), and I hope you do as well?

But now it does actually find the phrase you are looking for. The old one didn’t work at all half the time. You could even copy and paste some text from the post directly into the search box and it still couldn’t find it!!

I like it all and I think we should stop moaning about the new boards. Everyone kicked off when they suggested we came down from the trees too, and look how that turned out.

Change, progress, it’s inevietable.

My favourite shoe fetish website has just changed it’s setup too and everyone was very anti at first but we’re used to it now aren’t we Dennis?

I think the issue about too much white is because when you’re using something like google you just skim over the results until you find something you need. This if you’re reading this carefully it is very bright. Didn’t seem so on the old board as it was broken up with more colour. (except when I was drunk but that’s different :) ) Don’t get me wrong, I like the new design and everything what I’ve said is just how I think the white is bugging people. But considering the old design was 7 years old who can blame you for changing it?

What I find very interesting is that you can click your favorite bands/films in your profile and you see who else likes them. Gave me some inspiration on what to watch soon, and Teethgrinder, if you haven’t seen Frailty and Identity yet, I highly recomment you those, from seeing the films in your profile, there’s a big chance you will like them! (don’t shoot me if you don’t)

I love it now - it’s so much easier and quicker to browse the threads, and as I never looked outside chit chat apart from the occasional dip into other bands and artists I have discovered heaps more bollocks than I dreamed was possible! :p

You should lose the yellow on the ‘sign in’ bar thingy, though. It’s a foul colour and it doesn’t go with the green at all. How about a nice terracotta? I know loads of men are colour blind, but there are lots of female WoMbles with exquisite taste and you should try and make the site as pretty as possible to encourage more females to sign up :)

*waves at potential female WoMbles*

*gives Rene a dulux colour chart*
