I saw it yesterday and thought it was a load of shite!

Quite a shame as i had high expectations.

The humour in the TV show has been going downhill for years now, so I thought they would at least put in some effort. Wasn’t a single moment where the film made me slightly snigger.

The Spider Pig gag was the funniest, and that was in the trailer.

Waste of time, I now know why I switched to Family Guy…

Transformers remains my fav Summer Blockbuster :D

I’ve spent the last few years waiting for this.

And when it finally arrived it dissapointed the hell out of me.

Im refering to the simpsons movie. Its not even funny! the storyline is weak and gives me a sense of deja vu. All the codes and conventions of a good simpsons episode (or any simpsons episode) seem to be missing. And there seems to be alot of moments were the characters act out of character. Such as homer mocking himself, and mayor quimby knowing who cleetus is.

and where the fuck are the prank calls?

and tbh most characters dont get more than one line of speech, even the fairly major ones.

it blagged on a bit as well.

the animation was class though

but ive got to say it RIP The Simpsons

i actually dont think season 18 is as bad as people imply, but now this film has fucked up my respect for the brand.

I think it is quiet funny and there were are numerous of good gags. I didnt watch it with much expectations and I simply liked it. Many jokes where in the details, e.g. Bart wrotes on the board “I will not download this film” in the begining or the videogame Grant Theft Walrus.

Oh, I got those jokes, but they were few and far between.

At the end of the day, there was nothing that made me laugh out loud at all like good ol’ vintage Simpsons.

Glad someone enjoyed it coz I think it was a waste of money.

I enjoyed it - simple entertaining feelgood stuff. Take it for what it is - a cartoon.

duh,

a cartoon that sucked.

It is not like I have never watched the Simpsons before, have been pretty much watching them since it all started and that movie is below par.

Is it just my imagination, or is the whole world, including the media afraid to admit that this film is a turd?

Heh I didn’t think it was that bad.. and yeah the Spider Pig thing was the best bit of the movie :D

I agree it could’ve done with more of the small ‘detail’ jokes though.

But overall not that bad. I suppose I wasn’t expecting something amazing since I have never found Simpsons to be explosively awesome, just always quite fun and nice.
Always preffered Futurama (But not Family Guy..)

Overall I enjoyed it then :D

I thought it was okay, unlike the South Park Movie which was really over the top and put more into a film context story wise and score the Simpsons which just an extended episode.. so they maybe could have made more out of it.. but i still had a good time watching it.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It was a very entertaining 90 minutes :)

That bit where Homer hangs on to a lorry and just sort of ” slides ” to his house made me laugh out loud.

The South Park movie is one of my favourite films of all time :) “Operation Human Shield” and “I don’t listen to hip hop” are possibly the best lines in the history of comedy :D

@Jess - If only I dared!! :D

I laughed quite a lot but like many movies made from tv show, it’s more a big episode rather than a movie (the situation and characters are the same that they were at the beginning, they didn’t try to say anything special , I watched it and ten days later barely remember something from it, so that’s not a real movie for me. The south park one was, the characters really did go somewhere with that quest for the clitoris :)
another thing it missed is real criticism, some harsh jokes that hurts where it’s infected.

micky
(I prefer Futurama too but it’s not the same kind of show in my opinion)

I liked but it was only a stretched episode. Good jokes inside the movie. =) Spiderpig is the best one! And the start in the church was pretty hilarious. And the skate boarding thing. :)

Thou shall close thy cell phone. :D

But I do prefer Futurama because of Bender and Zoidberg. =)
