Not sure if I preferred Dead Star to In Your World, but both rocked - new album should be good. The Middle was probably my favourite JEW song though.

Still waiting (arf) to get Sum 41 - have been banned from buying any new cds, dvds, books and computer games until after Christmas by my girlfriend & parents!

Can’t really think of much, but here’s a few:

QOTSA - No One Knows
Turn - In Position
Turn - Another Year Over
Audioslave - What You Are
Foo Fighters - All My Life

I’d like to add Smashing Pumpkins - “Aeroplane Flies High”, cos it’s so fucking good, but it released in 1996 so I guess I can’t.

Dude, whatever happened to Moist? I thought they were meant to be The Next Big Thing or something, but then they just disappeared. And now you can’t find anything about them on the net because if you type ‘moist’ into a search engine you just get porn. I prefered the b-side though, Machine Punch Through. Still one of my favourite songs.

(in no particular order if not alphabetical)

alkaline trio - private eye
biffy clyro - blackened sky
glassjaw - cosmopolitan bloodloss
hell is for heroes - i can climb mountains
idlewild - american english
liam lynch - united states of whatever
taproot - poem
the kennedy soundtrack - killing music
311 - you won’t believe
trust co. - downfall

there’s a lot i could write down, mostly songs played during the rock show on xfm. trouble is, you hear a cool song and either you miss the name of the band or the song…

extra track not released this year: system of a dawn - CHOP SUEY

it’s not actually “best songs of 2002”, it’s kinda “my 2002 soundtrack”, songs heard most on the radio and seldom written by any of my fave bands

United States Of Whatever (lyrics)

I went down to the beach and saw Kiki, and she was all like eeehhhhh, and I’m like WHATEVA!

And than some chick comes up to me, and shes like, hey, aren’t you that dude, and I’m like yeah WHATEVA!

So later I’m at the poolhall and this girl comes up and she’s all like awwww, and I’m like yeah WHATEVA!

Cuz this is my United States of Whatever And this is my United States of Whatever And this is my United States of Whatever

And then it’s 3AM I’m on the corner wearin my leather, and this dude comes up to me and says, HEY PUNK! and I’m like, yeah WHATEVA!

Then I’m throwin dice in the alley and officer Leroy comes up and he’s like, hey I thought I told you… and I’m like WHATEVA!

And up comes Zafo and I’m like Yo! zafo, wuzup? and he’s like nothin and I’m like thats cool…

Cuz this is my United States of Whatever And this is my United States of Whatever

as a Jammer myself you might have been surprised by the fact i didn’t mention ‘i am mine’. i was tempted to include ‘save you’ instead but i think it was released as a radio-only single. which is funny, coz i haven’t actually heard it on the radio yet…:S

I’m another supporter of this Liam Lynch (who’s this guy anyway, I’ve never heard of him before). That song is so funny, thanks to Kyra for posting its lyrics.
And come on, let’s say “Save You” by Pearl Jam is one good song of this year. After all, the post doesn’t say BEST SINGLES, simply best songs. Isn’t it?

p.s.: I actually prefer “Can’t keep” from “Riot Act”.
