The Two Towers

#

Started by Michael

Has anyone seen this movie? I’m talking about the second part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy of course! Well, all I can say about it is that it seriously kicks ass!! I went to the cinemas yesterday, and I was impressed, it’s even better than the first part! Especially the battle at Helm’s Deep is great, Aragorn kicks ass!
So for those of you who are bored during the holidays, go and see this one, I can highly recommend it. Although I doubt there will be many tickets left…

I really want to see it, the Helm’s Deep battle had better be good, it took 4 months to shoot

It’s amazing! The effects are top notch ( believe me on this- I know my effects! )the tone was pitched just right, although you can tell it’s been edited to fuck! Can’t wait for the extended DVD release! Roll on number 3, and move over George Lucas!

I liked the bit where Legolas skateboarded down the steps on a shield… you don’t see that every day.

I thought it was pretty damn good overall - i loved the Ents, and the Nazgul, and Frodo wigging out and falling in a marsh (anyone else have an instinctive dislike of Elijah Wood?) Usually, I don’t like CGI, but i thought some of the bits were really well done.

My only main complaint was that the defense of Helm’s Deep was crap. Sorry if i’d being pedantic, but even with three hundred men they could have put up a better fight than that. The orcs turned up and stood in a big line in front of the walls… they were obviously within bow-shot (because someone accidentally shot one), so WHY WEREN’T THE DEFENDERS SHOOTING AT THE ORCS??? What is the point of letting them get closer?? And if someone puts a huge ladder up against the wall of a castle, my advice would be to get a big ol’ stick and push it back, not stand there like a moron waiting for ten thousand orcs to climb up it.

But apart from that rather pedantic point, i thought it was really good! :D

What about the part where they are in a castle and they ride out on horses.. where did those horses come from…
I loved Gollem, well that was his Dutch name, I don’t know if the English name is the same (like in Harry Potter)…

The helm’s deep stuff suffered from really bad editing..you could tell it had been chopped big time. Apparently Peter Jackson originally turned in a cut that was over 4 hours long but the studio wouldn’t sanction it’s release at that length, so it was cut down..and it shows. So that’ll be the extended release on DVD this November then…I just wish Tom Baker had taken the part of Gandalf, he’d have been brilliant in that role.

Roll on Return of the King!

I did have a few problems with the film. I think there was a little too much humour - in places it wasn’t needed. The effects were poor in places (I can’t have been the only person who thought the Ents were made out of plasticene). Oh and some of the script was cliched beyond belief.
Technically, I wasn’t too impressed. But for general enjoyment, it was one of the best films I’ve seen in a long time. And yes, definitely better than the first.

I really loved it…I’m not gonna compare the two, ‘cause it won’t make sence…it one story split into three parts.
I’d love to see the final DVD uncut…and go thru that…like a series. Yum Yum!
Gollom/Sméagol really looked stunning.
