Down III Over The Under , I know its not due out until the end of the month but I couldnt resist. I’ve been waiting for this for five years since Down II when I was a mere 13 yr old buying it on the first day. And I must say its been worth the wait , on first listening of the first few songs so far so very good. Gonna be playing this for a long time to come.

Btw I will be purchasing , despite downloading it.

Down are gonna be the next really big thing after this record.

I’m listening to a Ramones compilation that I picked up for £4 over the weekend. Very enjoyable!

Hmmmm, interesting…
Lots of riffs compared to the previous two albums, not sure if Phil’s vocals are all that exciting this time. Good, though, catchy and doomy and very very Black Sabbath in parts.

Nice to have a “new”(ish) band making interesting music, cos practially all of what I listen to is old.

and just to prove the above point, I think tonight’s “stuck in traffic” soundtrack will be New York Dolls - Rock N Roll (basically a compilation of their first two albums)

Hatful of Hollow is a Great CD!

Handsome Devil is one of their best songs, plus the versions of Still Ill and What Difference Does it make are better than the album cuts!
And the acoustic version of Back to the Old House is absolutely haunting..as well as being one of my favorite things to play on the acoustic. Bust that out at a party and everyone goes quiet…of course someone finally asks what it is and you say it’s the Smiths and everyone turns up their noses…bastards!

Hooch can hate all she wants! Hate the playa not the game!

enough on that…

now I’m listening to a Face to Face mix.

I really like the album, it’s a lot smoother sound wise then the last two, which is down to recording in LA and the fact that Phil is singing more on this then screaming. I guess touring with Heaven and Hell may explain the Sabbath influence coming through more. The more I play it the more I’m enjoying it but NOLA is still such a classic album it was never going to reach that level.

Great album, Dennis, I especially love Born Again Idiot - I always get a lot of energy when I hear that song.

I’m currently listening to a lot of Pantera and Dire Straits - how’s that for a combo?

Yes, great energy coming off all the Bush-era Anthrax, if you ask me.

And Pantera and Dire Straits works for me. I love the live version of On Every Street - one of my guilty pleasures shhhh don’t tell anyone. ;)

I agree - Sound Of White Noise is probably my favourite, but they’re all great records.

The lovely Hooch got my wife and me ‘Private Investigations: The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler’ for our wedding and I’ve been listening to it a lot lately. I can’t get enough of Sultans Of Swing, which is one of my all time favourite songs. Don’t know if you like the song, but if you do you should check out this live version with Eric Clapton on YouTube. Sound quality isn’t great, but it’s a truly enjoyable performance.
