Editing by going back to the form after you’ve submitted it is no longer possible. Instead, I’ve added hints to encourage using the preview option to make sure your entries are correct and complete before posting. I’ve added a preview option to ‘Start a new discussion’ and ‘Send a message’, in addition to the one we already had when posting a reply, which has been updated to match the streamlined new ones.
To replace the old quote button I’ve introduced a ‘Reply’ link on all individual posts (bottom right-hand corner). Using that, instead of using the form at the end of a discussion, adds a link from your new post to the message you are replying to. This makes it clear who/what you’re replying to, without the need to copy/repeat the earlier post. If your reply is referencing the post directly before it, the link will not be added (unless the referenced post is on the previous page of the discussion). Whether or not the link to the earlier message is added to your post is determined after posting it, so there’s no risk of losing the connection between the two, should someone else post a message in between yours and the one you’re replying to.
I’ve attempted to make the link to Your messages stand out more when there are unread messages.
There are also various other small user-experience improvements, but discovering those are left as an exercise for the reader :-)
