did you see the second stage? The Wildhearts were fucking awesome! Terrorvision were great too, but the less said about Headswim and Skin the better!

in terms of the main stage:

Aerosmith - not one of my favourite bands, but they were great live
Extreme - why the fuck were they there? utter shit
Sepultura - fucking brutal
Pantera - Phil rambling like a dickhead between every song, real let down
Therapy? - FUCKING HELL!! I knew they were gonna be good, but I don’t think anyone expected a performance like that!
Pride & Glory - thought they were pretty cool, bought their album soon after after and it never fails to get me in a good mood

I’m gonna take a wild guess and say that it wasn’t the 22 people I saw them play in front of at Club Laga in Pittsburgh, PA back in June 2001.

Despite the tiny crowd the boys rocked it like they were playing a packed arena. Still the best live show I’ve ever seen.

Happy memories. Mostly. ;) I never liked Terrorvision before that gig, but they were great.

What about the Sao Paolo stadium gig they played — wasn’t that many tens of thousands?

I remember seeing that in kerrang. Andy was wearing a dodgy black and yellow tiger type shirt. I think that was a bigger crowd than donnington.

I was there! Spent the night in a multi-storey car park. Lost my credit cards. But T?

Therapy? were great! Blimey, so long ago.

Remember Extreme. Everyone wondered why they were there and everyone seemed to know they shouldn’t be. The crowd hated them and threw things.

This was not too long after bands like ‘Europe’ who claimed to be rock ‘n’ roll but were just embarrassing. Extreme were in the same ilk; embarrassing.

Imagine Boyzone at Donington Monsters of Rock Festival - and you’ll know why people hated Extreme.

Actually that’s when I was into the Wildhearts, they were there too. They played one hell of a set. I can still hear ‘Caffeine Bomb’ which is… amazing. I’m still trying to sing the right words very quickly.

Excuse me i’ll have nothing bad said about boyzone while i’m here. If you don’t like boyzone then fuck off. they are great representives and embassadors for ireland.

they’ve had more no.1s than T? or extreme will ever have…

Boyzone:
06/10/1994 LOVE ME FOR A REASON
20/04/1995 KEY TO MY LIFE
03/08/1995 SO GOOD
16/11/1995 FATHER AND SON
10/10/1996 WORDS
23/04/1998 ALL THAT I NEED
06/08/1998 NO MATTER WHAT
25/11/1999 EVERY DAY I LOVE YOU

So what if their not originals or if they don’t play their own instruments, they are more successful and respected than Extreme.

Its funny cos its true…

Yes, I’m happy with the fact that I have been at the biggest attendance gig. That was my introduction to T? Watching Pantera and Seps are the same bill was awesome, Aerosmith were fantastic headliners also. I had left the main crowd when Extreme were on, but could hear the booing, don’t know how true it is, but someone said that Nuno Bettencourt had had a go back at the crowd for booing. They should never have been on the bill. I didn’t see the Wildhearts on the small stage, I did see Biohazard though. Still got my 94 t-shirt it has stood the test of time well.

I thought Extreme had balls for taking the gig on knowing that they’d be really up against it. And to be fair, it’s not so much that they’re a shit band (come on, admit it, Pornograffiti was alright) but more that they seem like a bunch of utter wankers.

Does anyone remember the dolly birds handing out biscuit boosts in the crowd, i was the one that caused the lead singer of extreme to call us all wankers and stomp off the stage…i hit him square in the face with a biscuit boost!!!!!!!

i saw terror vision and biohazard but dont remeber the wild hearts…I did idrink around 15-20 pints throughout the day !!!

It was a great day. Got VERRRRY drunk, fell asleep (as u do at these things) and (happily) missed most of Extreme and only stayed for the start of Aerosmith, but, what a performance by T?.
