You should check out some of the 80’s Damned stuff then… they have their prog moments. In fact i thing there has been a few punk bands that have gone prog “goes off to find old 7”s as proof” Punk doesn’t have to be simple, it was more an attitude… Status Quo only use three chords but i wouldn’t call them punk ;).. shite that’s what i would call them.

Billie Joe doesnt really use the same three chords though. He uses the same chords depending on what key hes playing in :p

And he can certainly shred when he wants to - he just doesnt these days.

Besides - I happen to love their songs. lyrics, music, vocal melodies, the way he mispronounces words to make them fit - i’m a sucker for that :D ( see also James Dean Bradfield and The Holy Bible )

And ive been a fan since 1994 - so im not just hopping on the bandwagon. I actually liked them since the first time I heard them - which happened to be Basket Case.

Exactly ! :D

Plus Joe Strummer was a better singer. Rancid do have some good tunes though.

Love the Clash BTW :) and the Ramones

heard the foos single last night on the radio and its rather pointless. Sounds like one by one. Ghrol does the same ol scream singing thing on everything these days, most dissapointing.

Well at least theyre trying to fuckin ROCK unlike most of the bands these days who play with the gain set on minimum and just play barre chords with all downstrokes and play the snare on every quarter note on every bloody song. Either that or its that sodding ” disco ” beat that every fucking band does that is getting really tiresome. LEARN A SECOND DRUMBEAT  and some new chords and turn the distortion UP !!!!!

Who cares about heavy ? As long as its not clean guitars with ever - so - slight gain on them…
