I haven’t listened to much today, owing to my evil headache. My new Scroobius Pip vs Dan Le Sac 7” arrived though.. Beat That My Heart Skipped. Tis beautiful.

I’m just finishing listening to the new Foos album. First listen and i’m thinking too many acousticy slowish songs and not enough riffs. The Pretender and the 2nd song is just about as heavy as it gets. Not many notable singalongs with big chorus’s.

Looks to me there taking a new direction slowly creeping away from the more rockier songs. Will give it time to grow as usual, But I dont think it will be as good as In Your Honour and its about a million miles away from the first two.

I’ve been listening to the Down Album again, seeing as it finally came through the post.

I had it on mp3 before release and I thought the quality wasn’t great but put it down to not being an official release - but now I have the cd…

The songs are great - but I can’t help feeling the production is really lacking. The guitars & drums really, really lack something.

Simon - help me out here mate - is it just me?

It sounds a FAT album sound wise… but i do know what you mean, I think compared to the last two the raw and Live element of the sound has been lost… the drums do sound like they have triggers on them at times instead of the natural sound of kit and the guitars are a lot more processed and compressed.. i’m sure they would have been put through an amp as well but it’s never quite the same. I could be wrong about this.. but it does have a more LA feel production wise.. which is a shame as it doesn’t completly fit their style :)
