News about upcoming (official) site improvements!

#

Started by Teethgrinder (René Fennema) Administrator

Hello everyone! It’s been a while, so here’s some news about the future of Teethgrinder.com and the official site.

(1) As a lot of you have noticed the performance of the message boards has been poor for a while now, and there will be a solution for this in about 4/5 weeks. There will be an upgrade to a completely new and improved message board system, which will be linked from both this and the official site!

All users and messages from the current message boards will be imported into the new system, so nothing will be lost in the transfer.

Some new features of the new system are (in random order):
- add HTML code (such as links) in your posts
- search in previous messages
- private messaging system to talk one-on-one with fellow users
- extended user profiles, personal icons, smileys (optional)
- much more!

To implement the system, which includes transferring all users and messages, the current message boards will be unavailable for a few weeks starting at the end of this week (around March 7). I apologize for the inconvenience this causes to you, but I’m sure it’s worth it!

(2) As many of you know I’m responsible for the new official site. Although it looks like nothing is happening, I can assure you that there is definitely stuff happening behind the scenes. I’m looking at a launch date sometime in May. Therapy? and I appreciate your patience.

Thanks for your continued support, shown in the kind e-mails and replies I have received lately! Cheers, Rene.

Are there any ‘unofficial’ message boards to lurk about on until the new one arrives?

I could put one on my page pretty quick, but it would be very slow and uncomfortable to use. At least it would be something until no one else puts one on the net.

I’ve actually been programming my own message board now (although for a different site), but it would be very easy to just copy it over to my mp3 page (http://come.to/therapymp3s). Right now though, it’s just a shell of a messageboard. I haven’t had time to put any of the pretty colors or pictures on it, because I’ve been working mostly on the backend.

Yes, I am the webmaster of the official site, and I am working with Therapy? on a totally new version. I cannot give you a launch date yet, but I’ll keep you all updated whenever possible.

My first priority was to get the new message boards up and running. While tweaking it to make it even better, I will continue my work on the official site. Cheers!

Title: well..

Rene, if you are in charge of the official site then why was the gig in Helsingborg not on there? It said (and still says) APRIL 16TH MALMO KB, when the correct city and venue should have been Helsingborg, The Tivoli.

I’m not that into T? as I used to be, but I decided to take a trip down to Malmo to see them.. only to be informed outside of KB that the gig was changed to Helsingborg. No T? in sight!

I wasn’t too depressed, having seen them many times, BUT there were atleast 50 ppl outside of KB expecting to see T? for the first time in years and they were pretty upset.. I spoke to a couple of guys who travelled all the way from Germany and I felt really sorry for them!

As there is ZERO promotion of T? nowdays, the only way to get info on the tour dates is on the official page.

Nice work man!!!

Anyway, I ended up having a great night out at KB, getting very DRUNK with ze Germans…

Cheers.

The ‘Nice work man!!!’ was a bit too sarcastic for my taste, but anyway..

I’m sad to hear that there were 50 disappointed people waiting outside the wrong venue, and I’m 100% sure Therapy? feels sorry about this situation as well.

However, the fact that I’m doing the updates for the official site does not mean I get all the necessary info, tour schedules, changed venues, etc. in a vision when I sleep at night. I rely on information I get from Therapy? and the people they work with. I was not informed about the change of venues, otherwise I would have certainly changed this on the site.

Therapy? try hard to inform their fans in a proper way if possible, which is shown by the fact that Michael asked me today to inform as many fans as possible that their performance at the Essential Festival has been cancelled, as soon as he found out / made a decision about this. I sent out an e-mail to the mailing list subscribers, added it to the official site, this site, and the message boards.

I don’t know what the reason of the change of cities/venues was, but it was probably last minute, due to some external factors, and I apologise for the disappointment.

Good thing you still got drunk, though.

Well, I can’t give you an exact launch date yet, due to my current situation, but I can give you a few hints as to what has been done so far:

- A large collection of rare and unreleased sound clips!
- New tour diaries with several behind-the-scenes pictures
- New top 10 favorites lists from the band members
- The news and tour dates section

All of this will be in a new interface which I designed a while ago.

I’m currently working on the discography and press/interview sections. BTW, if anyone has any interviews or reviews they would like to contribute to the archive on the official site, please get in touch with me.

Yes, there is ‘a light at the end of the tunnel’..

The new official site will be launched on April 1st, 2003!

A large part of the work has been done now, and will mostly be finished this month. In March some last things will be done and the site will be tested and checked by Therapy?, Sarah (who has already helped a lot with the site so far!) and myself, preparing it for a launch on April 1st.

Hope it will be worth the wait!

Like I announced earlier in the ‘Lost Songs’ thread, ‘The Sweeney’ and ‘Lost Highway’ from the BBC Radio 1 Evening Sessions will be available for download for sure.

I think there will be about 8 or 9 songs available at the launch of the site, and there will be songs added and/or replaced later on. I’ll probably have a poll every once in a while so everyone can vote for new songs which should be made available.
