Whats the craziest thing ouve done as a T? fan

#

Started by babylonrass

See my buddy icon,
I had a ? shaved into my hair for the Motorhead/Therapy gig in Dublin last year (and I’m 32 and have a wife and 2 kids!!!!!!!!!!), As expected I got loads of funny looks especially going through customs. The funniest part was coming back to Stansted, Andy was on the same flight, I said hello (he said hi back) and I think he mustve thought ‘this bloke should be locked up’ so he went and sat well away from me and my mate. He looked well knackered and I didn’t want to harrass him but flying by ryanair for £40 is not exactly the rock star life is it?
Thoughts?

Other than have two tattoos based on them, just being a T? is mental enough, talking about them to complete strangers and having a drink with them.

Loads of mad and at times irresponsible things over the years.

The one that springs to mind first is going 50 hours without sleep to see them twice on consecutive nights in Belfast and Dublin and on returning home having a shower and going to work straight away which made it 60 hours before I hit my bed.
DeepSleep and Ronald were on the same trip and I think Ronald went even considerably longer as he went out for another all-nighter when he came home.

Well, Cuchulain is right there, that was one hell of a crazy trip haha! Besides that Denmark was insane too. The craziest thing I’ve done is drawing huge Gemils in sand and snow I guess.

Guess the the craziest thing has been the trip to Lithuania last August; those bastards drove there like “kamikaze pilots” and couple of times the crash was more than near:( Also sleeping in cars and airports has became very familiar and many times we have gone to work almost straight from our T? trips aboard:) But that´s the price you got to pay when you want see the worlds best band live:)
And hey, I stagedived from stage in Russia during the St Petersburg gig back in 2004, and that´s quit “crazy” from me I think:)

Well it ain’t that shocking but I once took all of my T? cd’s (I have them all except for Babyteeth and So Much For the Ten Year Plan) and listened to them without stopping, then stayed up at night to watch my two dvd’s and listened to my favourite T? songs again the day after.

I think my general expenditure on crap in the last 10 years is insane. Being a collector of all things Therapy? will send me to the poor-house in the end, I’m sure. Nobody but me knows how much I’ve spent. And I’m not telling!

Most devious thing I’ve done relates to the fan club gig in 1997. I had a ticket and convinced 3 mates to come with me to Dublin as I thought they could get tickets at the door. Got to the venue when they were loading the gear in, and we were told it was invite only and no tickets to be sold at the door. We then proceeded to spend about 3 hours counterfeiting my ticket (it was a large laminated red ticket) in a back-door stationary shop. They looked quite good in the end, and we all got in. Take that, MTV!

look to my icon: i build a guitar in ?-shape.
in 2003, therapy? played in lingen/germany, and some weeks earlier i decided to build them a guitar as a gift and appreciation for their work.
so i bought a neck at ebay, collected some guitar parts… the result was that the band was reeaaallly astonished about it.
not enough, they decided to play it on stage!!!!!!!! and so they did: martin came on stage an played the encore “teethgrinder” on MY guitar! sheer lunacy…

Donington ‘95 I was 15. Me and my friend had bought a coach package with our tickets even though we were forbidden to go. We both had these rucksacks with hidden compartments in which we hid some of those slim bottles of vodka (incase the id police were mean), lengths of different coloured ribbons and some of those rub on transfer letters from whsmith. Fully packed we ran away from home and caught the coach! The bag search at the gates was almost a bust but we got away with it. Hanging out by the back stage area we noticed that the back stage wrist bands were yellow and printed “Donington Guest”. We sat in a concrete tunnel to create our fake wrist bands and amazingly they worked. ALL DAY! It was great! we met T?, white zombie, slash etc and got loads of cool photos but the best thing was REAL toilets! Every time we needed to go we went backstage. We almost got in trouble because we kept going into the T? tent and we didnt have the correct coloured band. My friend stole one of the cardboard T? things off of the tent and posed for photos with it until someone came and took it back. During T? set was the first time I crowd surfed and it was amazing! The whole day was unreal and I would believe it happened if I didnt have the photos (T? ones signed at a much later gig) We got the coach back ok and spent the night sleeping in Wolverhampton bus station (I know!) waiting for the first bus as we didnt have enough for a taxi. When we got home our parents just thought we’d spent the night at the others house. Cannot, to this day, believe we got away with it. Ive got 8 tattoos but T? was my first which the same friend bought me for my 21st.

Ive still got my wrist band somewhere. The ends of the ribbon are very frayed and ripped as we just knotted them on the underside and Donington is spelt wrong. I’ll try and find it and take a photo along with the other photos from that day. I remember now that we did tell one person what we were doing just incase we got murdered or something so not entirely reckless!
