RIP Ian Mckaye

Started by Gimme Back My Brainsaw in Chit-Chat

Ian Mackaye, lead singer of influential hardcore band Minor Threat as well as Fugazi passed away today in a Baltimore hospital room. Outside a Fugazi show in New Jersey last night, the singer was struck by a car passing by the front of the Ventura Theatre. Brunswick police say that the driver allegedly stopped, but then fled the scene. There is now a police investigation underway.

Mackeye was rushed to St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, where he was pronounced dead this morning at 6am. This is a tragedy for the underground music as a whole and we need to stand together at this time of loss.

fuckin gutted to hear the news that Ian Mckaye has passed away.

I fucking love Fugazi, I class Waiting Room as one of my all time favorite songs
Never really been a minor threat fan but I respect what they’ve done.

He’s been hit by a car in front of a concertvenue when he still played with Minor Threat, before he had to go on stage he still played the gig before he went to the hospital, to find out he had a bad concussion, I’ve got the gig on DVD, he was acting very strange! When he did a Q&A in Antwerp last year, I asked him about this accident, that was a very funny story…
