Down quite underated but not for much longer they surely are gonna be the next big thing in metal ?

Weezer yes very underated , great band and i’m very happy there gonna release a new album next year.

Also, Tyla & The Dogs D’Amour , Social Distortion , Turbonegro , Supersuckers … the list goes on.

How on earth are Weezer underrated ? They had their hits in the top 40 and had all the kids jumping around to them on the big festivals.
Overrated more like , although that destroy my sweater song was great when put into practice…

There’s some real underrated bands that are way better than anything mainstream nowadays but don’t make it because they don’t have a big commercial record company behind them.
There’s a band in Dublin called Still Life who can play anything anywhere but stick to their own written stuff and the odd Maiden or Motorhead cover. Too bad they don’t get any airtime because all the stations are too busy with another shitty boyband Louis Walsh threw at them, probably raping another 70’s classic , or plugging U2s The Joshua Tree again and again as the best thing since sliced bread.

If ever in the money , first thing I’ll do is an Irish T? gig with a Still Life support slot. Things would never be the same again ! :)

Yeah - I cant imagine why they dont have a bigger following… seems like the kids these days only seem to care if the band is american!

I mentioned this elsewhere, but I think Madness are underrated. Some surprisingly dark and sombre lyrics in amongst all that “Nutty Boys” imagery.

OH OH OH! Another one: Motorhead!

“Ace of Spades this, Ace of Spades that, blah de blah de fuckin BLAH!”

Album after album of quality hard rock, some great guitarists over the years and some very smart lyrics, yet all anyone says is “ACE OF SPADES!!!! ACE OF SPADES!!!!”

Great song, yeah , but…FUCK. RIGHT. OFF!

Also Echo and the Bunnymen, spesh the “post-reunion” albums, great quality songs, honey-soaked vocals and sunglasses whatever the weather.

Oh God - there’s millions! See if you remember any of these who were underrated at the time and eventually split (or fell off the radar):
Radiator, Ruby Cruiser, Llama Farmers, Cyclefly, King’s X, Extol, Mew (still up and coming in this country full of indie retards), 3 Colours red, etc.

Totally agree about Motorhead - songs like Burner, I Am The sword, Sacrifice, Out Of The Sun, Bad RTeligion etc piss over Ace of Spades! Lemmy forever!

Speaking of Motorhead who I totally agree on being underated . The song Don’t Let Daddy Kiss Me ?????? My word , I think I read somewhere that its one of Lemmy’s favourites. Bit of an evil song. Typically on the album entitled BASTARDS.

Thats just reminded me… when i was in the second stage tent at Download 2 years ago I saw both Clutch AND MOtorhead one after the other and they both pissed over whoever was on the main stage (I think it was Deftones at the time, whom I think are crap!). Amazing day. I then proceeded to try and sell my girlfriend then got mad when some dudes wanted to buy her!

I think the Melvins are very underrated… they seem to be name checked quite a bit as influencial and there out put bar a few unlistenable ones is of such a high standard. All the members are very very good at there instruments and they push themselves and don’t stagnate by trying new things. Also live they are one of the best and loudest bands out there. I have a lot of respect for them.

The Descendents are another that i feel have been overlooked at times… they came from the hardcore scene but went more for a melodic style which has been ripped off along with other bands from that period and can still play better and have more balls then any band that is trying to sound like them now a days.

Anyhoo, underrated bands: Tad, Sebadoh, Solo Jim Bob (completely ignored since CUSM), Helmet…Mudhoney…Oh, DEFINITELY Rocket from the Crypt. Erm…solo Frank Black…

I think the ‘problem’ with most underrated bands simply is that they don’t sell themselves to commercial stuff and all that… So much for the ten year plan ;)

Yeah I think FLC is a bit underrated, seeing how awesome they’re live and how they could be more famous considering they’re from the big apple. I’m sure there are others, but I can’t think of them right now :-/

Mate i couldn’t agree with you more… they were such a great band and did everything by their own rules and the shear amount of material that they released the quality never dipped… i was quite sad when they called it quits.

Most Belgian bands are underrated. Most of them are big in Belgium but it seems difficult for such a small country to mean something in the rest of the world. Some bands like T.C. Matic, Front 242, dEUS and K’s Choice had luck in some countries. Bands like Red Zebra, Admiral Freebee and Das Pop are great but it doesn’t seem to work abroad.

I have all Admiral Freebee CD’s and I think they’re good to but I think they would’ve had more success if they had made a better mix of rock and calm songs instead of only calm songs (latest CD had good songs but way too many calm songs).
