In Nothing We Trust by Reuben. No contest. I honestly think it deserves to be the Nevermind of this decade.

Hm,

There have been quite a few good ones so far. My fav 3 are Megadeth - United Abominations, Machine Head - The Blackening and Down - III, Over the Under.

The Exodus is also one to watch and would also give the new Arch Enemy a mention. Good year for music all in all.

Its been a quality year so far lots of good releases.

Down - Over The Under
Wildhearts - S/T
Ian Brown - The World Is Yours
Manics - Send Away The Tigers
Foo Fighters - Echoes , Silence…
Turbonegro - Retox
Hanoi Rocks - Street Poetry

They were just a few of the highlights.

Only albums I havent really bothered with were QOTSA and Smashing Pumpkins , initially on first few listens both did nothing at all for me and I didnt really go back to them. Anyone think I should ?

I think the QOTSA one is a grower and worth a few more listens - but the Smashing Pumpkins one is a real let down.

I do like Arch Enemy… the only problem is they have found a formula recently and stuck to it, i was excited about the new album and although the songs are good It just didn’t do anything for me. Considering the leaps musically Carcass did I was hoping for a bit of evolution from them… Michael has even started rehashing old solos on this album which is a shame. Not that it’s a bad album, i do enjoy listening to it and they do what they do very well. I don’t know… maybe i was expecting more. I’m still looking forward to seeing them live though as they are very good :)

Only ones I really cared about were:
Therapy?- CD release of music through a cheap transistor (which was immense)
Smashing Pumpkins- Zeitgeist (well i like it).
Down III was a let down, not as good as the other two.

Paradise Lost’s In Requiem was a real return to form.

Interpol’s Our Love To Admire probably the biggest disappointment.

To add to that:

Melt Banana - Bambi’s Dilemma

Bjork - Volta
Eluvium - Copia
The Field - From Here We Go To Sublime
The National - Boxer
A Sunny Day in Glasgow - Scribble Mural Comic Journal
Panda Bear - Person Pitch

the followers are:

Candy Cane - Fay-ra-Doowra
Porcupine Tree - Fear Of A Blank Planet

Insert Remedy takes the poll most surprising album of the year “A State Of Constant Change” and Smashing Pumpkins “Zeitgeist” was the worst. Nothing new, nothing that gives me a reason to listen to Billy’s annoying songs. And his voice.
