I got a tv licence red letter thingie through my door today… £112!

Well fuck that..the tv I have is really old so I’m gonna take it apart and leave it for all to see as they have stated their intention to send somebody around to check up on my flat. As I’m only here for another couple of weeks there seems little point in paying out until I’m in somewhere new..but this is what really pisses me off about all this shit… the BBC recently increased the charge by an extra £4..not that much I admit, but it’s so they can raise something like an extra £100 million a year- so they can maintain BBC3.

Now am I the only person here who thinks that a public service like this has a nerve charging me extra cash for a channel I can’t even get?! Not to mention all this crap about showing programmes first on there..I think it’s a real piss take myself.

Here’s hoping the Beeb lose their charter next time it’s up for renewal…we used to have a great tv company in this country that was the envy of the rest of the world- now it’s gone down the shitter.

Don’t pay it!

I agree with you on this one.
What pisses me off about the Beeb is that they can’t advertise on their channels which is why we pay a licence fee.

But they can advertise their OWN new channels and their OWN tv programmes.

UNFAIR I say.

Yeah but the BBC don’t get any revenue from advertising their own stuff.

On the whole though, it does seem unfair to be charged more for digital channels if you’ve only got an analogue TV, but then I guess you were always charged for Ceefax evenif you had a none-teletext tv.

Still, at least they’ve spent some of our hard-earned money on the new series of 24, so it’s not all bad?

I’ve been dodging buying a TV licence for years and they’ve never once checked up on me.

When I first started and was worried about it, I used to keep a filled in form and cheque in an envelope, ready to whip out should they come to the door under the pretence I was just about to buy one :)

I saw that on the news about the licence fee going up 4 quid, pissed me off, but what pissed me off more was when they said the BBC get around 2.6 Billion pounds in licence fee payments!!!

Oh yes, I’m dancing…24 sweet, sweet weeks of Keifer back on our TVs. :D :D Have had to use all my willpower to stay away from the website episode guide.

re. the Beeb, I agree with everything Dano said. They spend the money on a channel many license payers don’t have (and I for one do not have a spare £99 for Freeview), they put stuff on BBC3 first and anyone watching BBC1 doesn’t see much except adverts for BBC3 anyway. SUCKS.

how to avoid paying tv licence and get away with it. lesson number one. take note.
i have friends who used to take their telly to pieces and hide it during daytime in case someone came over. eventually tv licence people found their flat, found the tv. my friends said it wasn’t working properly and would get rid of it soon; they didn’t believe them. they said, you. ain’t. foolin. anyone. oops.
i know people who stopped paying and never been checked up and others who haven’t been all that lucky..

It’s called Freeview..but you pay out £99 for it! Isn’t that a bit of a contradiction?!

That’s like the Freeserve ISP deal.

They’re called “FREEserve” but it’s not free. It costs.

Call me Mr Nitpicky-Fusspot, but that is not free.
