What was Number 1 in the UK singles chart when you were born?

I only know one person who has a worse one than me, and mine is:
Showaddywaddy - Under The Moon Of Love.
(yes, you can start laughing now)

So go on, it can’t be worse than that -surely!?!?!?

Mate, at the time that song was the way forward and Jazzie B was/is one of the most respected producers in the UK (granted for soul & pop).
At least yours wasn’t at the extreme end of trivial/novelty acts that just wouldn’t roll over & die!!

I might have given you some sympathy if you’d have said it was Charles & Eddie - Would I Lie? :-p

I really fucking Hate John Lennon

The guy who killed him was a big fan apparently.

If I’d been alone in my room, listening to nothing but John Bastarding Lennon for 20 years, I would have killed him too.

I at least heard of the US one…not that I’m happy about it
Then Came You - Dionne Warwick & Spinners, wonder if her psychic friend predicted that one.

And I actually heard the Australian one..again not happy The Night Chicago Died - Paper Lace…now on K-Tel’s super sounds of the 70’s.

Man what a shitty day!

I love this thread - reading down the list and trying to remember what I was doing when you were all born!! It’s like my own personal quiz! :D

I particularly remember yours, Hooch - laid in hospital sick as a parrot, black and blue and with 7 billion stitches, with “suicide is painless” drifting over the airwaves! :p
