New Label?

#

Started by silverginger5

By the sounds of it T? are going to be on a new label with a new contract by the time the next album rolls out, whats everyones thought on this. Personally I’m fairly excited by this prospect, although OCFA wasnt a great album by any standards if it had got the media push then I think it would have faired better commercially. I’m hoping that with a new label that T? can get the recognition they deserve over the coming years

Yeah it’s good news. I didn’t realise the contract with Spitfire expired; I guess it was a 3 album deal.

But great to know that another label has faith in the band, that’s 5 altogether - Wiiija, A&M/Universal, Ark21, Spitfire and the new one.
I’m also glad that they’re taking more time on the writing aspect of the band and cutting down on the whole write/record/tour/write/record/tour mentality of the recent past (this is also in keeping with what Mikehell told me at Download ‘06, so it’s obviously a long-standing, well-thought out plan of theirs), and I welcome it… though I’d still love a one-off Irish show :-)

Happy christmas to T? and to you smelly lot on the WOM!

Yeah, I’m with Alan (including on the Christmas greetings :)). I think the quick turnover for NANE worked in its favour, but didn’t really benefit OCFA, so I’m interested to hear what they come up with after a longer creative process. And they sound pleased with the new contract, so that can only be a good thing.

Here’s to 2008!

i’m glad they are taking some time out to get this sorted properly! Like SG5 said, OCFA was a disappointment to me, it seemed half-baked somehow so the new look T? should be great!

It’s very easy to think that record companies have endless magical pots of gold which they choose to selfishly lavish upon the latest golden-egg-laying goose, but the truth of the matter is that the few labels left that actually care about music (i.e. the smaller ones) don’t have a lot of money or clout.

The reason I am saying this is I hope this new label can bring Therapy? back to a level of profile and public awareness that they deserve but please please please no more endless threads about how the record company won’t get behind them and make expensive videos and numerous singes etc etc.

Then i think you’re going to be very disappointed because that ain’t happening.
Sounds like they are doing the right thing, Spitfire haven’t been the greatest label and don’t seem to up date much on their website to let you know what is going on with the artists on the roster. T? still have a lot of clout and respect with there peers and in the industry so with the right backing and a Label that will work close with them and promote them properly then you never know what will happen. Bands that are just fucking shithouse have made come backs over the last few years, and as T? have never gone away and still release quality music then who knows.
Good Luck to them hope it works out :-)

I wonder if this means that they will be releasing albums in the US again. I agree with all of the above, think it will be good for the band.

I do think that this new label shift, when coinciding with a great new album will do notable things.. one can’t be sure exactly what it’ll be, but at the least it’ll be easier on the band’s financial factors. And shows at more diverse locations, releases all over the world, big promotions - that sort of stuff - will be more likely. But whatever little recordlabel graphic will be printed on the album, I’ll be buying it - here’s hoping to some killer songs. : )

Ooh, the speculation. While the message from T? didn’t give anything away, the tone of the post was optimistic. Hope the deal does the lads justice. The Spitfire albums got decent distribution throughout Europe, but not further afield, hopefully that’s something that’s part of the new deal.

New album next year, Hurrah!!!

They probably want to announce it as a new start for a new year. I’m rooting for T? now! I hope they do a big fuck off rock album with massive riffs, dark, humorous lyrics and catchy tunes. Metallica will be back next year and whether you like it or not, they’re album is going to shift millions so hopefully that sort of rock/metal will be back on the map which will give T? a chance of getting big again!

I have a few friends who work for different labels and distribution companies and have heard a similar thing. Never heard of them myself, but the guys know what they are doing :)

No, demolition is a label full of the biggest bands of yesteryear, no respect to the likes of tigertailz, wasp, spike and the quireboys but theres something on that website that reeks of nostalgic cash in label, maybe i’m the only person feeling that?

@ grant
demolition aren’t like that at all..
the people running it are some of the most genuine people you could meet and are all about getting the bands they’ve signed what those bands deserve..
I know that the vast majority of bands i know and work with would kill to be signed to demolition..
a local label doing great things..
not many labels i can say that about.
