Death Race 2008

#

Started by deadsetgav

Thought I’d start proceedings this time

Eric is the first person to post a list - can one of the friendly Mods move his entry here?

Do we need a recap on the rules? are we implementing Sams rather smart bonus point scheme for predicting the cause of death?

OK. Same points scoring as ever:

1 10 points
2 9 points
3 8 points
4 7 points
5 6 points
6 5 points
7 4 points
8 3 points
9 2 point
10 1 point

but if you correctly guess the cause of death then you win DOUBLE points.

i.e. You have 6) Nicolas Sarkozy - assassinated

and the French president tragically has his head blown off by a sniper, you get 10 points (5 for the death and 5 for correct cause of death).

If someone fancies having a flutter then I’ll bet you, highest points at the end of the year takes all…

1) Dr Albert Hoffman - Peacefully in sleep
2) Claude Levi-Strauss - Respiratory complications
3) Ariel Sharon - Life support switched off
4) Michael Foot - Stroke
5) Kirk Douglas - Pneumonia
6) Norman Wisdom - Pneumonia
7) Zsa Zsa Gabor - Heart attack
8) Arthur C Clarke - Peacefully in sleep
9) Billy Graham - Cancer
10) Hamed Karzai - Assassination

Wild Card - Tony Blair (Assassination)

Yes, he is an annoying little turd, isn’t he? But given his tendency to try everything that might be a drug (he’d probably sniff upholstery cleaner if it could be used as a recreational drug) my bet’s on the overdose.

And why hasn’t anybody else listed known druggies? I don’t think Amy Winehouse will die this year, but she’s definitely a 2009 / 2010 contender.

It’s much the same as last year with a little switching about - I don’t know a lot about this Suharto fella but a lot of you have him on your list so I guess he’s a dead cert.

A stroke is like a brain attack - it can be caused by something like a clot preventing blood (and therefore oxygen) getting to the brain.

Hehe, well, I’m not a doctor, but: a stroke is to do with having a haemmorhage in the brain, and a heart attack obviously isn’t. :) A stroke basically happens when the blood supply to your brain is cut off, or severely limited, and your brain (or parts of it) stop working. Strokes and heartattack are both killers, though.
