Price for a pint of beer - 2008

#

Started by CS (Colin S)

Well, as most of us like the odd pint, just how much is it for a pint of beer at your local bar or that club you go to?
I’ll start off.
£2.70 for a pint of Harp / Heinekin at Ravenhill Rugby Ground, Belfast.

Price can be in £, $ or Euros!

Well at my local bars, it’s between € 2.00 to €4.5 when it’s over 2 am until 4. In a club you can expect € 4 to 7 (10 sometimes). In France a glass of beer is 0.25L, half Irish pint I think. For a pint of 0.5L you just multiply by 2. Easy doesn’t it ? ]-I
Heineken is €2, 2.5 for a 0.25 glass (half pint).

Most local pubs in Glasgow are around £2.75. In town, and in the clubs, it’s more around the £3 mark.

I think I pay £2.50 in my local, I never really check the price cos I know it is a fairly cheap one. Most pubs by me are more like £2.70 a pint.

I am talking Carling here, by the way.

I never go clubbing and rarely drink at venues, though I can tell you the local venues are damn expensive. My biggest gripe is with the Carling Academy venues - They are sponsored by Carling and yet they still charge a fortune for the bloody stuff! Worst one was the one in Manchester where they charged the Earth for it and then served me a 500ml CAN poured into a plastic glass. 500ml! It;s not even a full pint and you are charging what I could get a pint and a half for in my local!

In my local here it’s 4,10 euro for a pint of Guinness , and that’s one of the cheaper places around as normally it’s around the 4,50 mark in Dublin.

On the occasions I’m back home in Holland , I have 33cl glasses of Jupiler for 1,50 euro in my local tavern.

Big fan of the Jupiler , the day it will become available in Ireland will be one of the best in my life !

everybody knows here that pints are cheaper in Ireland and UK than in France. I remember (as better as possible) prices are pretty similar with Holland. Otherwise Guinness is one of most expensive one. Heineken , 1664, Kronembourg, blond quality beers have an equal price level => €2.5 for 25cl ; €4 to 5 fot 50cl

Haha indeed it is, wetherspoons is just an alcoholics den.

Generally the locals around me are about £2.50 ish a pint. But if im feeling really stingy i’ll just go to the workermans club. £1.93 a pint of everything bar Stella which is like 10p more.

I tried Guinness Red yesturday in cardiff and its utter filth.

yup no brains, probably due to the fact the bar and the arena isnt actually owned or ran by anyone welsh but rather livenation

still at least its owned by livenation rather than carling

id rather drink tetleys over carling any day at a gig.

but ervery pub in the vicinity has the word brains on the window

and the brains brewry is 5 minutes walk from the CIA.

The moment I actually order a beer in bar / venue I’ll let you know. Since I’ve pretty much given up the booze (still have moments of weakness) it’ll be some time though.

And why does everybody keep mentioning heineken? The title of the topic is “Price for a pint of beer - 2008”, not “Price for a pint of recycled goat urine - 2008”.

It varies from pub to pub and depends on what beer you are ordering.

Carlsberg and Heineken are usually pricey in Dublin - around €5.00, Guinness and Smithwicks are more around the €4 - €4.50 mark.

Pretty pricey eh? You get ripped off even worse if you go to any touristy area like Temple Bar.

belgium for 0,25L it’s 1,70€ or 1,80€ for jupiler, stella or cristal or … (depends on what’s on tap)

for leffe, hoegaerden, duvel it’s about 2€ or 2,5€ (depends were you go)

and we don’t serve piss like Heineken, so I have no idea what it costs
